My wife and I just got back from PV on Saturday. Puerto Valarta was one of THE best place we have ever visited! The people were friendly, the weather warm, the drinks cool! We stayed at the Los Tules and were very impressed with the resort. The rooms need some upgrading but the grounds were incredible, the pools and rooms were very clean, and the restaurent has excellent food. I would recommend it to anyone thinking of staying there. To add to this we were right next door to the Fiesta Americana where there was something happening all the time. If you don't think that is good enough, walk down or up the beach and pool/bar hop. We saw a lot in our short week. We will head back as soon as we can! Thanks to all for a great time! Rick Macnab <rmacnab@shaw.ca> Calgary, AB Canada - Monday, May 13, 2002 at 11:21:03 (CST)
I was in Vallarta between 4/13 and 4/20 and I had the best time of my life. It was my first vacation where I did EVERYTHING I wanted. My best friend and I rented a Jeep and drove around Old Vallarta (we actually stayed at Paradise Village in Nuevo Vallarta). Great places to see are Punta Mita and also if you can take the "water taxi" from Boca de Tomatlan, go to Yelapa. The beach there is unbelievably beautiful... the landscape just takes your breath away. There you can also hike up and see the waterfalls. Nightlife was also great. Kahlua, The Zoo, Roxy, Carlos O’Brian, Senor Frogs, Collage, Christine’s… all had good music (actually some better than others), very friendly staff, and crowds gathered from all over the world. I danced so much that I think I lost 5 pounds just shaking my ass ;) Anyways, I had an awesome time, and I definitely plan to go back some day!!!! P.S. If you want to see my Vallarta pics, send me an email and I will send u the link to my web album. Daniela <angelina18@hotmail.com> Chicago, IL USA - Saturday, May 04, 2002 at 22:32:26 (CST)

April 2002.Just got back after two great weeks at the Royal Decameron in BUCERIAS.Excellent facilities and can recommend the Dolphin Adventure, the Air Trip to San Sebastion and my girlfriend says the Horse-riding was excellent. Bucerias is about a 10 minute cab ride to PV but why not try the bus - it' different! Bucerias is a 15 minute walk from the Royal Decameron but a few good bars enroute, notably Gecko's and Jeff's sports bar with English football. Try the local restaurants, especially MARISCO'S EL VENENO - just sit and watch Mexico walk by. Prices are fair but not cheap and cabs are very pricy. For a weekend with a difference visit Guadalajara -terrific! Any questions feel free to e-mail and enjoy Mexico - it's a great place with wonderful people. México - Sunday, March 10, 2002 at 15:58:59 (CST)

My wife and I purchased a time share down in Puerto Vallarta a couple of years ago. We were down last November and noticed a dramatic increase in costs of just about everything. I talked to several Mexican people and they were concerned because the cost of living for them was going out of sight. Up until now, Puerto Vallarta has been a very good option to a lot of us who used to have winter vacations in Hawaii because of the prices. I would bring this to the attention of the local chamber of commerce. Please don't kiss a good thing good by. When prices rise dramatically, we just spend less which has will undoubtly hurt the tourist industry. Vallarta, Jal Mex - Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at 01:32:40 (CST)
Returned last week from our 9th year in PV.We always stay in the old town around Olas Altas. There's a new restaurnt on Aquiles Serdan called Angelos which is very good, reasonably priced and attentive. The setting is a courtyard. On the same street on the beach block is a breakfast place called Richards which is also good value and food and fine service. One of our favorite restaurants in town is TRIO which is consistently good. We did feel that the prices this year were too high and know from speaking to the servers that it's not from overpaying them!!They basically exist on tips.PV is still a great vacation but it's no longer much of a bargain. We are planning a trip to Puerto Vallarta for March 2002. We have a hold on a place and there is not that much information on it. I was wondering if anyone knows about Park Royal Los Tules we need to know as soon as possible 24 hour hold (timeshare) . thank you Charlene <char8@hotmail.com> Canada - Thursday, January 24, 2002 at 15:32:08 (CST)
I had an good time. The managagement needs to learn how to please the guests at the resort, by learning english better and treating the guest with more respect. Guests shouldn't feel like they are being baby sat while they are at the resort. I would be a loy nicer if the guests weren't escorted out of the resort with soldiers that carry machine guns. As well we weren't allowed to go on the tour bus with the rest of the people we came with. Other than that it was fun. Jessica Mcfarlane Calgary, Ab Canada - Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at 04:35:52 (CST) Webmaster Comment: What resort? Just a comment that will make your travelling abroad easier, I do not expect the locals to learn my language, I try to learn some of their language, it's more fun and respectful. Some guests like being "baby-sat" others left alone, you should make clear what you want so they can make you happy, isn't this respect? I don't understand the machine-gun escort comment... never seen that... are you a terrorism target? VIP's? And why you couldn't get on the tour bus beats me, did you pay? Maybe it was because of the machine gunned soldiers... :-) I would recommend you leave your comments in greater detail on the PV Message Board so we can respond and get some more info, thanks.
The Marriot Casamagna hotel is really beautiful and the service is superb. The weather in Purto Vallarta is very nice and the sun always shines and gives us a perfect tan. We have been coming to PV for almost 6 years now. we have stayed in Neuvo Vallarta (Radisson Pariso aka Diamond Resorts and Hotel Sierra). now we are staying at the Crown Paradise Resorts. we have seen and done it all too, but we love the relaxed atmosphere of PV, the people of the community and the night life down on the Malecon. We also have some very close friends down there. If you get a chance to see Kassiano perform down there, it is a great show. And when we get away with Kassiano and his family up in Los Conchinos the friendships that have started are never ending. Yes Cafe des Artistes is expensive, but the atmosphere and quality of food is fantastic. you have to try just to say you did. otherwise El Panorama, El Set, Los Pipos, Dacquri Dicks, Dugarels, are all great places too so if you get the chance to experience PV, you will get a chance to take back some of Old Mexico and some of the modern touristy mexico too Tom & Lorrie <tojol57@yahoo.com> Grundy Center, IA USA - Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at 15:47:26 (CST)
The first time we came to Puerto Vallarta we had won the trip with a lottery from the local shops. So we went to Puerto Vallarta for a week at hotel San Marino Plaza,we enjoyed our stay very much and came the year after again to the same hotel and had a even greater time,we love the people at the hotel and the City. The people are warm and friendly and helpfull and no trouble is great enough to help you with watever problem you have. We will come for the third time this year at San Marino Plaza if everything comes in his place so we will see you again. We had a wonderfull time and there are more times to come . See you all later. We have been to PV twice. IN Oct. of '92 we stayed at Ocho Cascadas and in May of 98 we had a beautiful 3 br unit at Los Tules. Both trips were perfect. Ocho is one of the most unique places in PV. All open air and a swimming pool in your living room. We have seen most of the "must do" things, but it is a great place and still has much more. Is Pepe's still in business? How about "La Panorama" restaurant? Gregg Gregg Creighton <gbcarch@teleport.com> West Linn, OR USA - Monday, January 14, 2002 at 13:26:14 (CST)
I've been to PV in Oct. the last 3 years, the last 2 solo and have never found a place where I feel so comfortable and safe being alone. I've seen some beautiful sights, had some incredible experiences and met some really warm and friendly people. I would recommend the Playa Los Arcos for a great hotel close to everything. Hope to get back to PV this fall and looking forward to more thrilling adventures. Debra <debrap@gwmail.plano.gov> Dallas, TX USA - Saturday, January 12, 2002 at 20:28:34 (CST)
My fiancee and I had the best time in Puerto Vallarta! We went on Dec 14th - 21st 2001 and he proposed to me on the 15th at Cafe De Artists! This is a very nice restaurant, a little pricy but the food is excellent (french cuisine)! A very fun place to go is Mariachi Locos - they have a mariachi band and the atmosphere is authentic mexican style. I loved Puerto Vallarta and plan on visiting every year! We are having our wedding there in December 2002 at El Palomar ( a very nice restaurant also that looks over downtown PV and the ocean - www.palomarpv.com) - adios!!! PUERTO VALLARTA October 28 – November 4, 2001 Our trip to Puerto Vallarta was exciting because we had not been here before. We have been to Cancun 7 times, both all-inclusive and non-inclusive. This trip was to Crown Paradise Resort – all-inclusive. The hotel’s service was great, both in the room (maid) and at the pool, bars and restaurants. The people try to please you. We booked with Funjet and had a representative’s introduction talk shortly after we arrived. One thing was really unusual, compared to Cancun. Instead of a bus or van taking us to our hotel, we had an individual taxi. When we arrived, we not only got a cool drink in the lobby, but a cold towel to freshen up! Wow! We got to eat right away and checked in within an hour. Our room had good air, a large shower and bathroom (in marble), and the bed was a king size with a firm mattress (ok by us). We also had a ceiling fan, coffee, and an in-room safe (no extra charge). The TV had a mix of Mexican and U.S. channels (not a lot of American channels). We watched a lot of CNN because of Sept. 11. The pool was large but not deep (watch diving). There was pool basketball, volleyball, windsurf training, aerobics, introductory scuba lesson, boogey boards and kayaks available. There were 3 bars – located at the dining area, pool, and beach. Drinks were plentiful (all kinds of liquors, including all kinds of fancy blended drinks, but only ‘Sol’ beer. It was my favorite anyway, but my wife loved all the fancy blended drinks. The bartenders made very good mixed drinks, with some variability. Meals were served ‘Carte Blanche’ in an outside café continental style for breakfast and lunch. Dinner was served in one of the 3 restaurants: ‘Paradise’ was upstairs with a magnificent ocean sunset view (6:30 P.M.). We highly recommend it for the view, food, and service. We loved the salad bar. You dress for dinner here (long pants for men). ‘Salvador’ was downstairs. We had a great steak at this restaurant, but service was slow, but nice. You dress for dinner here also. They had flaming coffee available after dinner. ‘Buenovista’ had fair meals with casual dressing. You could either eat inside or outside. My wife liked the hard chicken tacos, but I didn’t. You can also eat snack meals at the beach and pool areas in early morning and afternoon, or you can go next door to the sister hotel – Playa De Oro – and eat at their buffet. Some things were good, some so-so – depends on your taste. This hotel also has 24-hour room service, which we never got around to trying. Crown Paradise Resort is adults only, whereas Playa De Oro (Sister hotel) allows children. Crown Paradise Resort customers could eat at Playa De Oro free, but not the other way around. This was nice, because it kept the children separate. We love children, but we just wanted to be around adults on this trip. I definitely would recommend the Playa De Oro if you want to bring your children. PUERTO VALLARTA TRIP Page 2 The beach has plenty of palapas (beach sun shelters) with tables and chairs/lounge chairs. It was not crowded at all in late Oct.-early Nov. Waiters would get you drinks free, but if you tipped them once in awhile, they really appreciated it and came back sooner. I recommend tipping the bartenders now and then if you want your beer in a special frosted mug – great on a hot day! The sand isn’t white but sandy brown, mostly sand at our beach, not gravel. The only thing to watch out for is a micro-organism called “Red Tide”. To the best of our understanding it is similar to algae and can make you sick (stomach) if you swallow much. It was here most of the trip and my wife swam 1-2 hours a day and didn’t get sick.. Just a warning. They say it is not pollution, but when it was the worst the ocean actually had a red cast to it, and there was a stronger ocean smell. The waves were small, and there were no ropes. It was great for swimming except for the “Red Tide”. The ‘Krystal’ next door had a turtle estuary, where they hatch and release baby ‘Ortegas’. SIDE TRIPS: We went on two, both booked off the beach.. Although your tour representative will warn against using them, we had a great time and were well taken care of. This makes the package tours be competitive (i.e.-Funjet, Apple). Just make sure the sales guy on the beach is licensed. We used “Luis” and saved $20-$30 over 2 trips. He was a very considerate gentleman and maintained a book of customer comments. We added our comments to the book, after we went on the trips! WILD DOLPHIN ADVENTURE was $58 each and leaves at the Marina (a couple blocks away). It goes from 9:30 A.M. to l:30 P.M. with up to 10 people in a Zodiac raft. They try to get you in with the dolphins (no pressure tactics on the dolphins), if the dolphins are agreeable. We saw lots of dolphins fairly close up (30’ to 100’ away). We recommend it. HORSEBACK RIDING in the mountains was $45 each , and was at Palmas Real Ranch. It was a great ride for beginners or experienced. We forded a mountain stream several times and hiked to a large waterfall mid-trip, where we got to swim – magnificent! The mountain stream reminded me of the streams in the Smkey Mountains – in the U.S.A. When we got back, we had lunch with free drinks. We had 2 hours on the horses and 30 minutes of walking to and from falls. Bad experience – be careful diving around pool. I horsed around in pool and dived underwater and hit my head on bottom of pool. The Hotel immediately called the paramedics and a hotel doctor. They took good care of me, but 6 stitches and $890 later I’m in good shape, but smarter around pools. There was no charge except by the doctor. When I got back home, I asked my Doctor what he would have charged for 6 stiches in his office. He said $100. We found out there is an “AMER-MED” (check spelling) facility at the marina area, which supposedly gives American style emergency service, but we don’t know their rates. Downtown shopping was not as good as Cancun. They didn’t come down much at the Flea Market downtown. My wife was disappointed in the shopping after 7 trips to Cancun. She says she got her best deals on the beach, but you need to be a tough “haggler”. Watch out for phony silver – “Alpaca”. Make sure silver has a clear .925 silver stamp indicating sterling silver. We also bought clothes, a hammock chair and a beautiful wood statue on the beach. Have a great trip! P.S. - The Whale trips don't start until mid December, but October 28th was a great time too. Well, today I arrived home again from a week Puerto Vallarta. Here it's snowing and cold. I already miss it very much.. would love to go back directly! Stayed at Qualton Culb & Spa. My parents celebrated their 25th marridge. The hotel arranged great things, like breakfast on bed and champagne in the room when they got back that night. This includes beach and nightlife. Any pointers as to what to do or what to avoid would be helpful. Thanks John <jleclair@isys.ca> Sudbury, On Canada - Monday, December 17, 2001 at 10:58:31 (CST)

I love this site. It is very informative, especially the discussions. But I do have a comment to make about the chatroom. I don't understand why certain chats are hooked up to this site? I just finished talking to someone who was so discusting, I am very upset. Please look into the chat rooms connected on this site. Many times there is a chat about cockfighting? I don't understand what this has to do with Puerto Vallarta. I hope you can fix this as everything else about this site is great! anonymousthanks <aaaabbb@hotmail.com> USA - Saturday, October 06, 2001 at 21:09:32 (CST) Webmaster answer: Yes, sorry about the chatroom, I have connected the chatroom support and I hope they are able to get rid of that disagreeable connection, I have noticed it too, but had never had any encounters with the chatters there, sorry for that! Kind regards
Gracias. Paulino <mocu@aeiou.pt> USA - Saturday, September 29, 2001 at 11:26:19 (CST)
I have been going to Vallarta every January for the past 8 years. I have traveled to many Mexico resort towns and found Vallarta to be my favorite. I stay in the old part of town called the Olas Altas area or sometimes called the Los Muertos Beach area. The people are absolutely wonderful, the town is filled with excellent restaurants and the beaches are perfect. I think this is the closest to paradise that this earth has to offer. I would love to chat with other people who feel the same way I do toward PV. Drop me a line, share with me one of your favorite stories or your favorite restaurant or any other great tip on Vallarta. Talk to you soon. Ed <eddieboy10@hotmail.com> Dixon, IL USA - Wednesday, September 26, 2001 at 20:50:57 (CST)

My husband and I went to Grand Marival in Nuevo in May. We had an absolutely wonderful time! The staff was very friendly. The food was quite good. The weather was perfect! Be aware that even though you may request to stay in a certain wing of the resort, they do not guaranee this, so may not get the section you hoped for. But all the rooms are the same, and you will rarely spend any time in you room anyway! Don't forget to swim with the dolphins. That was one of the most memorable parts of the trip. We have decided that we will definitly go back to this resort. All staff speak english, but they do appreciate when you try to speak their language. Tipping is not necessary, but we noticed that you get a bit better service when you do. We usually left $2 each day in our room for the cleaning staff, and it did make a big difference.
