restaurant closings
Talking about the restaurants that are doing well, we should not forget all the closings that have been going on in the past months: Blu Shrimp, Caio 3, De Santos, Maria Cantina, Xitomates, Japanice, all downtown Vallarta. Tikul, Muelle 34 (I think it was like that) in Marina Vallarta. It´s a shame ...

Nuevo Vallarta
The new 3.14 Plaza has some very good restaurants that opened recently: Dolce Vita (same as the one downtown, great pizza) Ginger (Thai food, upscale but really good quality and not so high priced) Pincho & Ole (not opened yet, same as the one downtown, Spanish tapas at good prices) Seafood (not ope...

They are now both open. Paul Bhalla´s Bombay Brasserie opened a couple of weeks ago in Nima Bay Marina Vallarta, just went once and it was fantastic experience, real Indian food and great ambiance (many tables waiting outside for quite long...) The other one, La Esquina del Tomatillo, is downtown, w...

Tourism is up compared to previous months (it´s high season) and compared to last year (only slightly, and last year was worst in history), the problem is that money inflows from tourism in Vallarta are around 30-40% below those in 2008... restaurants and retail being the ones that are suffering mos...

they will be picking up from the beach, pretty straightforward and easy (except for elderly), business as usual. however, it´s true that from Boca is significantly cheaper (going to south shore), and they have a new pier (before it was directly from the beach). There will be more than enough boats r...

Just write shooting California in google and you will find many articles, and therefore I´m recommending everyone I know never to visit California again http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/10/08/california-elementary-school-locked-shots-fired/ Again, it is a reality that there are drug dealers all around...

I received this article a week ago in the newsletter from Los Veneros (October 2010), I posted it here so that the rest could read it, because I share most of what it´s said there. My point of view about Puerto Vallarta´s security is that we are in a medium-sized city and everyone should take the sa...

there isn´t any webpage to look at now, unfortunately. There is not a "true" independent page (not even tripadvisor), they all write "paid" articles, "paid" best-of (in banderasnews, it´s just a matter of paying to be on the 101 things to do in Vallarta), the readers choice in vallartaonline is main...

As far as the house work, how big is it? I´ve gota very reliable builder and cheap, but he won´t do too small works... He just built a house for me and he is building another one in the south side (this one for sale) ON the taxi front, I used to live in Conchas Chinas (close to the Oxxo) and I used ...

I completely agree with your last post, all you mention there is what I would do back home, those are obvious security reccomendations for anyone living or visiting any city in the Western World, and Vallarta is not an exception to those rules. That is exactly what I was willing to explain (maybe wi...

They are all reported, and local press publicize them quite heavily (read Vallarta Opina or Tribuna de la Bahia), but there are not many big fatalities to report, despite your willingness for them to happen. You could tell many things that have go wrong in Vallarta in the past years (ageing of town,...

Sincerely, I don´t know which Puerto Vallarta you´re talking about... I live here 10 months a year since Jan 2007 and I have never had any problem, and I have never seen or heard about any situation with me or any friend that should make me feel unsafe. Of course, don´t walk around at night in El Pi...
