The costs spelled out in the article seem about right. But there are some other issues that you ought to know about ... especially as they pertain to negotiating the contract. First, and probably most importantly, no one in PV seems to want to accept offers on property that are contingent on anythin...

How can you say that AI gives you more pesos to spend? That would presume that AI is the exact same cost as non-AI. And I know it isn't ... there's a cost for AI in terms of per person per day. I will grant that many times the cost pp/pd is pretty reasonable, maybe $40 to $50. And if one doesn't dri...

Not cheap from Cincinnati
Fares from Cincinnati to PV for January 2010 are through the roof ... over $800 per ticket. Prices from Dayton, Louisville, and Columbus are cheaper but only by about $100 or so.
We're going to have to drive to Indianapolis for an early morning flight but the cost per ticket is $517.

When we purchased our house (not a condo) 3 years ago I attempted to include a number of conditions that are normal for the US. One of these as "the right to get an professional inspection and to be able to back out of the contract if the inspection showed significant defects". My conditions were al...

Cheap Food
In addition to several other comments, I'd like to add the following ... The taco stand up the street from t he Los Muertos pier. Tacos Panchos right next to Caffe de Olla. Any taco stand where there are a lot of locals eating. The Italian Place (can't remember the name) near the Parque Cardenas gar...

DFW layovers
DFW has trains between terminals. You are probably leaving for PV from terminal E (I think) which is the International Terminal. In any case, the wait for your train should not be more than 2 minutes. And the length of the train ride s/b no longer than 5 minutes. There are, I think, 2 entrances per ...

Ceviche
You really don't need a "recipe" for ceviche. In fact, there's a restaurant just outside of Lima, Peru where they have a "make it yourself" ceviche bar. You pick up a small, pick up the various types of fish and/or shell fish that you want, give your bowl to the ceviche maker and he makes it and the...

Beach Restaurants
You can eat on the beach at CyC's. They'll set up a table and you can eat with your feet in the sand and, at high tide, maybe even your toes in the water! The food at CyC's is very simple ... grilled fish filets, quesadillas, hamburgers ... but pretty decent and reasonably priced. I don't know how l...

Wireless Internet
Capt Roy: AirCard, I think, is a brand name (Sierra Wireless, I think). IUSACELL does offer wireless internet. They call it BAM and you can find out more by looking at the IUSACELL web site. It is all in Spanish, though. Since IUSACell is wholly or partly owned by Verizon Wireless, I suspect they us...

Cost of "Non-AI"
Here's what my wife and I spend for the "food" portion of our vacation in PV ... Breakfast: We buy cereal, fruit, milk, etc. and eat in the condo. I doubt that this costs more than $2.00 USD per day for the both of us. Lunch: We buy cold cuts, fruit, chips, bolillos and soda and make a sandwich to t...

A Different Christmas Poem
A Different Christmas Poem ========================== The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light, I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight. My wife was asleep, her head on my chest, My daughter beside me, angelic in rest. Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white, Transforming the yard...

Cheap Telcel Cell Phones?
About a year ago I replaced my dead Nokia GSM phone with a newer Nokia model. For some reason, the unlock codes don't work on the new models so I'll be forced to buy a phone in PV in January. I already have a Telcel SIM card however. Does anyone know what the cheapest possible Telcel phone costs? I ...

I would vote on Los Tules, having owned a time-share there for almost 20 years. The grounds are very nice and it doesn't have the feeling of a large resort (although it is). None of the buildings are over 3 storys and they all have a nice Mexican feel to them. You're right across the street from the...

What to do for a day?
Here's what I'd do, assuming that your primary tasks are to "veg out" and have fun. 1. get off the ship and take a cab to the Malecon. 2. spend a couple of hours walking around with the rest of the cruise passengers and looking at all of the touristy shops, etc. 3. walk south along the malecon, acro...
