teaching english
Private elementary schools are always looking for native english speakers to teach preschoolers. From what I've heard, teachers for preschool are hard to come by. many teachers quit after a while or are hard to find in the first place. However, the pay is around $5000pesos a month. So, you'll have to...

Guess what, CharlieB..you are NOT in the same situation as me (or most of my neighbors). We cannot save for 14 months to go anywhere! That's right! $10 bucks a day ain't gonna get you much of a disposable income. I agree with Winterpeg Man about the tipping situation. I had a friend from canada and ...

Just wanted to add that yes, the COL is high here. People do seem happy with what little they have, but it is hard to get ahead here. My husband (mexican) works for tips and comes home with $300-500pesos after a 10-hour day. He makes $47pesos a day as his wage. We live fine but can never afford a va...

hot guys....yes!
Ahhh...there's always hot guys (like the ones you described) at the clubs on the Malecon. Both waiters and club-goers. Is there any specific reason you are intersted in Club 69, though? It's funny coz I drove by the other afternoon and saw some really cute waiters standing outside the club enticing ...

When I read the original post, I also that that maybe the money might have fallen out of the back pocket. Wouldn't you have felt someone's hand on your butt? :? In situations like these, where we don't know for sure what happened to the money, let's not point fingers too quickly. Keep you money in y...

There are many places that serve menudo on Sunday morning. Also, you might want to try birria tacos in the morning, too...I seem to remember that they are made out of goat meat. They are delicious! There are tons of non-touristy places to get the food you have mentioned. Wander into any Mexican neig...

The gov't spends a ton of money creating scare tactics so people will vax. I shudder to think at all the toxins that are being put into your body when you get a vax. Ask to see a list of the ingredients in the Twinrix vax (or any vax for that matter) and I think you may say, "forget it!" Just becaus...

Actually, I would recommend to bring a pair of jeans/pants and a nice shirt when you want to go clubbing. The local guys always 'dress to impress' when they go out on the town in the evening. And no, you will not be allowed in the club with a 'beater'...I know this for a fact, since that is what my ...

Molina de Agua swimming pools
I asked this within another thread, but haven't received a reply. Someone had mentioned that they hadn't actually stayed at the Molina de Agua, but said that they have great pools. Is it possible, then, to just use the pools for the day? I have family coming and would like to take the kids swimming ...

There's also a waterfall at the "El Eden" in Mismaloya.
Many people go there for a day-trip to see the Canopy Tour, Horseback Riding, restaurants, river, etc.

Just wanted to re-assure you. Don't worry too much about what other people say. Take these negative comments with a grain of salt. You will have a great time with your family. The kids will enjoy the pool and beach and all the activities. The grown-ups will enjoy the sun, the drinks, and a chance to...

Most hotel check in time is not until the afternoon. Out at 11 or 12 and in around 3 is typical. They have to clean the rooms after people leave. I do not see this as a huge complaint against a hotel. Have you ever arrived to your hotel fresh from a long flight and have been told to wait 5 hours un...

My folks stayed at the Hacienda. They arrived at the hotel at 9am after a long flight and were told their room and other services (food etc.) wouldn't be ready until 3pm! Well, after raising a little hell, they got a room at 11am and a all-inclusive bracelet so they could at least get lunch at 1pm. ...
