I am looking to go bird watching and would like to ask if anyone knows if their are a lot of possibilities of being bitten by insects (high season)?

Bird Watching

http://www.ecotoursvallarta.com/bird_watching.php

see all types of birds as i walk out of my balcony
like those little humming birds
ladrones (black scarcrows)
sparrows
yellow bellied ones
sea gulls
eagles
palomas(pigeons)
when i lived in la cruz
there were those singing ducks from the north
they nested in front of the house in a big tree at night
singing
beautiful

Linda and I did the EcotoursdeMexico tour in nov, 06. There were 3 other couples and the guide who was very good at spotting and identifying the birds. We were not seriously "bugged" even though we were well off the beaten path out in the hills. We saw about 30 different species including green jays, parakeets, magpie jays and a scarlett trogon. Though the breakfast consisted of packaged Bimbo pastries and instant coffee, we did get plenty of chips and guacamole with soft drinks at the restraunt we stopped at. All in all, it was well worth it.

Just returned from PV, Mex, had a great time, great weather and no insects.

I walked along the beach during the day and night, swam in the Hotel pool only. No bugs on grounds or water. I am a real target for bugs, they seem to like me and not a single bite.

Have fun.

There are some bugs. They have to survive too. Share a little...

Since the bird watching areas are all located outside of PV proper (you get the best viewing in the jungle areas) there will be bugs. During and right after the rainy season ends they are the worst. Make sure you use insect repellent and I have heard dryer sheets in your pocket help too although I have not tried them. Trust me I was eaten alive on dia de los muertos when we were in El Tuito cleaning up a gravesite. The experience was worth every bite though.
