Enjoyed Mr. Obama's speech, following the post-inauguration events, seems more like a party than anything else.

Seems you have a winner! :-) Even feel like moving to the US now ;-)

Now comes the hard part, all pulling in the same direction.

Best wishes to you all.

i am proud to say that i voted for Obama, but all of this will mean nothing if we as a country can't recover from the current situation with the economy and the rest of the world. talk about pressure!!

I have to say it was pretty amazing to see the crowds that turned out today and not one arrest, pretty amazing with a crowd of 2 million people.
"What is the saying....there is always one in every crowd". Guess that person stayed home today.

Let's just hope that Obama is more than a good looking Black man who can talk a pretty picture. What we need is a president with outstanding advisors and a brain in his head. Time will tell. Chuck... 8)

By now it should be clear he has a more than adequate brain, and the advisers I've seen him choose are all outstanding, and all things considered, you couldn't get anyone worse than Bush, so it's all upwards from here.

Oh come on, Mogens, he has only been pres for two days. Hasn't dealt with any crisis yet. We have no idea what kind of results he will obtain. And as far as his advisors, too many from the old Clinton administration. And Hillary? She couldn't even take care of the health care reform job that Bill gave her to do. She totally botched it up and it still needs reforming. However, it IS all up hill, and it would be very hard to do worse. Chuck... 8)

How refreshing it was to see the new president give encouragement and hope in troubling times to so many people.

I think Obama is the cat's meow... :) He is a very charismatic and charming man who not only writes (with help) good speeches but also knows how to deliver them..
It has been a long time since a politician has stirred up so much enthusiasm from the young the elderly and from all races...

The excitement Obama is bringing to the political scene is a very good thing..

When I was a young lady I remember a spirited charismatic man arriving on the Canadian Political scene..
Although I never voted for the man.. I Did not agree with all of the parties political views... Pierre Trudeu did make me sit up and listen and want to use my right to vote .. My right to Vote that so many fought and died for ..

Good news is that
Barack Obama's candidacy pushed voter turnout in this year's elections to the highest level in 40 years.

How fun it is going to be to watch Obama and his family

I have to agree with you Chuck. Obama and his admin has alot of work to do, I think Obama is being treated more like a celebrity rather a leader and it will only put more pressure on him. He does give most people, i would think, hope. He speaks with confidence, but when is the last time a President stood up before the world and appeared unsure of himself? NEVER. not even Bush was unsure of himself. So, it's time to cut the talk and start to walk the walk. I am an Obama supporter and I would never bash Bush, I think he did what he thought he had to do. He was our leader for 8 years and because i love this country (sound the drums and horns) I stood behind him, just like i will stand behind Obama.

President Obama

Post by kagnew64 » Thu Jan 22, 2009 8:28 pm

I did not vote for President Obama- I think he was sixth on my list; but
since he won fair and square I will back him all the way. No snide
remarks or racial jokes. The presidency is the toughest job in the world
and he needed our help and loyalty.
Mogens, your hindsight is poor. G W Bush has a ways to go to beat
President Carter.

Or Nixon... but who knows, I think Bush did his best to alienate most of the world, I don't think others did such a thorough job. And yes, it's still to be seen what Obama can do as a president, I personally think there is no way he can do things worse than Bush, if I were elected, yes ;-), but not Obama.

I wish I had the same optimism others had, but I see Obama as nothing more than another hand picked shill who will do the bidding of the people that put him in power.

Look up bilderberg group
Look up "who owns the federal reserve?"-, or did you think the US did?

Lloyd Robertson openly asked "is global domination their ultimate goal?"

Elected MP Pat Martin says " I'm not comfortable with that at all,who elected these people to run the planet

1)His campaign promise of pulling the troops out of Iraq by 2011 quickly changed to -we'll stay until the job is done- after he was elected

2) Immediately after being elected he put up his "change " website in which he stated he would like a mandatory service of 50 hours a year from middle and high school kids and 100 hours from college kids. After the instant backlash he changed the wording to would like to see them volounteer it.And his minions quickly denied it ever saying that.

there was a guy back in the 30's that had a youth brigade. Remember that?

3) Where is all this change? He appointed the same warmongers that have been floating around the whitehouse for years.
He appointed a zionist jew as the head of whitehouse staff who has openly stated his loyalty to Isreal above all.

Look up -"whitehouse zionist jew" on google and get the lowdown on Rahm Emanuel. In fact the day after his appointment the Isreal papers claimed it a victory to have "their man" running the whitehouse. Of course that didn't make it to our news

Did you know that the US gives between 3-$5 billion a year to Isreal?
Who then takes 400-$600 million of it and in turn pays off these same congressmen

Did you know that the US has vetoed over 40 UN sanctions against Isreal?

4) He is currently doing away with the national guard and training 20,000 troops for deployment in the US in violation of the Posse Comitatus Act, to deal with terrorism and "civil unrest"

look up 20,000 troops for deployment on US soil
Look up Fema detention camps.

Lets see what he does in regards to the SPP
What is the SPP? The Security and Prosperity partnership
Look it up, also the North American Union, also the Amero, also the Trans Texas Corridor

Ihope I am wrong and would love to come back and say I was a year from now,but I see him doing nothing but turning the US into a socialist military complex.

I was never a tinfoil hat guy until I gave up watching tv in late 2007 and spent the 3 hours a night researching instead of American Idol.

If people want to immediately dismiss this as hogwash, I understand fully and even backed Bush's actions and believed terrorists did 9/11

Look up Andreas Von Bulow, he was with the German government for years and put out a book "the CIA and 9/11

the former and most popular Italian president ever has openly stated
"the whole european community has known 9/11 was an inside job for years"

who runs the United States? Look up Lindsay Williams, he put out a book in the 70's called the non energy crisis

He also put out a video in june 2008 saying the price of oil would drop below $50 by the time Obama was elected. It was $140 a barrel when he claimed this.

Look up the Aaron Russo interview

All I can say again is I hope I am wrong, but people need to know what is really going on behind the scenes.
I am proud that in the documentary "end game" Canadians have a large percentage of people that know what is going on

Like former Governer Jesse Ventura says "some democracy, we get one more choice than communism" He put out a book "don't start the revolution without me"

I hope Ron Paul gets in, in 4 years, they falsefied the polls so he dropped out,but he had more support and donations from the military than ALL other people running combined

Again I hope you people are right and I am wrong.I guess we will see in time. And please don't ban me for this,I am not trying to insult or belittle anyone, but seeing as the subject was brought up I had to state a few of my opinions on the subject, and maybe give a few folks food for thought.

When you mix so many conspiracy theories in one post, all my brain screams is: BS. Time will come when we'll be able to come back to this and laugh (if we aren't already), at least that's what I think.

I have to admit, I find all these conspiracy theories great entertainment. Anyway, since 1996 I've been voting for Ralph Nader. I do agree that Obama will probably turn out to be just another democratic party machine politico. But, he is likeable and presents a much more hopeful image to the rest of the world. Early on, I wasn't really worried if McCain should win. Obama was preferable but McCain would have been ok, UNTIL, he chose his running mate. That scared me. Had the election been close I probably would have voted for Obama just to keep Palin as far away from the Whitehouse as possible, but here in California, since I get off work kind of late so don't make it to the polls until after 6pm, I have the luxury of seeing how the election is going and then vote for the candidate that I really want rather than the lesser of evils. I'm happy Obama won and do hold out some hope that even if he is a party polictician he may do some good for the country.

you can ban me for this if you would like, I find it insulting that people (especially americans) think that the American government had something to do with 9/11. I find it hard to believe that the government would allow assholes to hijack planes and fly them into the twin towers and the pentagon killing thousands of people, you have to be a complete idiot to think that would or could happen. everything in this country is a fu***** conspiracy when things don't go a certain way for a particular group i.e political, religion, ethnic ect...people s*** on our vets, these are the soldiers that fight to allow you to talk this nonsense, yet they are disrespected by some of our society. you want to turn this forum into a political forum, your making a mistake.

There will be conspiracy theories for as long as people are allowed to think. And as long as we have racism, bigotry, jealousy, and just plain stupidity some people will promote their warped beliefs, and others who share similar beliefs or are easily swayed will choose to follow them. IF their country allows freedom of expression and belief they will be allowed to go through all the books in the libraries, read all the magazines, search everything on the 'net' and find every one of these theories no matter how weird and complicated they may be. You can find such individuals alone, or even in groups... some even wear matching uniforms such as white sheets, pointy caps, to identify each other. Ultimately they share the same mentality of the person that has no problem yelling fire in a crowded theater, or hiding behind women and children while carrying suicide body packs.

I share Buffet06's view that the U.S. (Canada as well) would not, could not, and will not ever do something like DugChan has described to its people. I am sure that he is only sharing with us items of interest that he has found somewhere on the net. There are enough people all over the earth who hate Western freedoms and practices and the subsequent spread of that message so much that they are willing to perpetrate all those heinous things on their own.

The morality of a countries citizenry is shaped by many things including culture, heritage, the laws, and most of all our education system. Our Media is to large, complex and too competitive to ever agree to totally conceal a sinister act by anyone, and there is always someone working within government that would spill the beans. That is not to say that situations everywhere could not be improved.

Congratulations for what? Electing an empty suit. Where is the change the Messiah preached? All of his appointments are either Clinton Cronies or commited leftists. I say God help our country now that the Democrats have a one party rule with the Congress and the White house. Just my humble opinion.
