Puerto Vallarta Forum (PV Bulletin Board)

Seeing the content of a couple of recent posts I am wondering what has happened to this forum?

I used to frequent this board frequently and read up on PV. It really helped when we booked some trips there, and we are going back again soon so I thought I would look up what is new there and what is going on in this forum. It is really sad to see it isn't very busy as it used to be and there is spam on it.

What happened?

responding to the person who said he encountered a few "inappropriate" comments, i just checked this board for the first time since march 2011, and he sure wasn't kidding! whoa! anyone scrolling thru the General Ramblings section is sure to see them. nobody moderating?

I had stopped coming to this site some time ago and am very sorry I did again...... I only came back to wish a PV friend and his wife a Happy vacation but I can do that on FB......


No fun coming to this site and finding filth on it... I too see no moderating or anyone leading this forum...

I cannot see how this crap helps travelers looking for info on PV ..In fact it turns many off ...I understand why so many of the ...Good .fun folks... that used to be have left...

One has many other choices to find out info on PV...

Very good question! I have been(in the past)keeping the board clean and free from spam and porn. What I would do is check it at least once a day. Any span or porn, I would delete and then send Mogens(administrator)the perps name. He would ban them and they would be gone permanently.

Pretty soon, these bad guys would post several "normal" posts asking questions or answering questions, then after 2-3 they would hit us with the spam/porn. I would delete the bad post, leave the "normal" posts, and notify Mogens to ban the person. Sometime during all this, I just PMd Mogens and commented how slow the board was starting to become.

Well, the last time I asked Mogens to ban someone, who I had left 2-3 previous "normal" posts, Mogens looket at this guy's posts, saw the "normal" ones I left, and replied that no wonder people are off the board because I am deleating them.

At that point I decided, Ok I just am going to back off and really scale it down.

Now you know. Chuck...

Most forums I'm a member of have a "report this post" button somewhere on the page. I can't seem to find one here, how do we report this crap?

By sending a PM to a moderator or the administrator. Look at the top of the page; click on "Usergroups"; click on "View information" for "moderators" and you'll find us. Chuck...

i used to come here all the time as well - and still am listed as a moderator. it just got too hard to work, moderate, visit, try to help people, etc... as Sylvia said, she can visit with people on Facebook, that is where Lorrie and I do a lot of posting, working, visiting, etc.. sorry for being gone so long...

as many of you know, i lost a daughter two years ago this december, last december we lost lorrie's dad, and now lorrie has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia... so our lives have really become quite complexed and we still go to the GCP twice a year (lorrie has been going down with friends in June or July after school is out)...

We leave in 19 days for Puerto Vallarta with friends from MN and WI... see you all soon...

I did not know about your losses and am so sorry to hear this! You gave me a lot of help when I booked our son and DIL's honeymoon at GCP, and then again when a couple of years ago my DH and I went there. We had a great time.

We are going to PV in just a few days after not going since that trip. We went to the other side and went to the Caribbean last year. I came back here to catch up and see what we have been missing and it was so disappointing to see the website has dwindled and nasty spam had infected it. It used to be a great place for info and help on traveling to PV.

Thank you again Tom for all your help, and I wish you and your family well. Again, I am so sorry for your losses. I hope the sunshine helps Lorrie feel better. Looks like we are going to just miss you down there- again. Seems that happened before.

If they don't make it easy to report a bad post, no one will do it.
