As a retired public school administrator, I am surprised that PV public schools don't do more to recruit volunteers. PV schools say they cannot afford to pay for North American teachers of English. Yet there are many expats and long term tourists here who would be happy to volunteer teach in local classrooms. Many know enough Spanish to conduct classes on their own. Others could assist regular PV teachers in lessons on English and American culture. In a tourist town like PV, the ease that students develop with English and American thinking will greatly add to their employment opportunites and pay.
Does anyone know why the PV public schools are not actively recruiting for volunteers in classrooms?
