Nuevo Vallarta sunset

Most newcomers to Puerto Vallarta will have more than enough to enjoy in the city and close by, but North of the city, crossing the Ameca river you go into what is now known as Riviera Nayarit, a nearly 200-mile long stretch of coast in the neighbor state of Nayarit.

It includes the well-known tourist development called Nuevo Vallarta and smaller traditional fishermen towns like Bucerias, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Punta de Mita, Sayulita, San Pancho, Rincon de Guayabitos, Chacala, San Blas and even further up the coast.

There are many beaches and a wide variety of options, this map shows some of the towns and beaches, but there’s much more to visit there.
