VALLARTA CHEFS SERVE IT UP AT THE 9TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL
GOURMET FESTIVAL
Reviews Declare The Chefs Still Have It!
Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco,
Mexico - (January 16, 2004) The Puerto Vallarta Convention
and Visitors Bureau celebrates the success of the 9th Annual
International Gourmet Festival with a standing ovation for
the fine chefs of Puerto Vallarta. The event, held November
13 – 23, 2003 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, welcomed
over 30,000 travelers to this Mexican destination to take
part in this world-renowned epicurean festival.
Each year, Puerto Vallarta
hosts food enthusiasts to this culinary Mecca nestled along
Mexico's west coast to feature the destination's posh restaurants
and cocktail lounges, while sampling tastes from the world's
most innovative chefs. The ten-day culinary marathon included
cooking demonstrations and tastings from international and
local chefs including Puerto Vallarta's TRIO Restaurant's
head chefs, Bernard Guth and Ulf Henriksson who were joined
by guest chef Frank Castronovo. Kaiser Maximilian Restaurant
featured head chef Manuel Nicolas Hernández, who
teamed up with guest chef Thorsten Probost to entertain
diners and fine wine connoisseurs, while international guest
chef Antón Mosimann and local chefs Thierry Blouet
and Leopoldo Cortes of Café des Artistes presented
imaginatively-infused classic dishes.
Valerie Miller, of Chicago
based Food Industry News says, "This festival showcases
Puerto Vallarta as the world class dining destination it
definitely is." Miller was one of only a select number
of festival attendees who were able to receive advance-placement
for selected dinner and festival events.
"When guests to Puerto
Vallarta's International Gourmet Festival arrive, they realize
why tickets for these events are sold out between six and
eight months prior to the Festival", said Juan Carlos
Balderas, Gourmet Festival organizer.
Participating hotels also
featured five-star dining menus prepared by award-winning
chefs. These dishes faired as the most admired dinner presentations
among festival attendees. La Estancia, located inside the
CasaMagna Marriott presented guests with gourmet delights
by guest chef Dennis Gavagan and local chef Fred Ruiz. Guests
of the Quinta Real's El Candil Restaurant enjoyed inventive
pairings by local chef Sergio Guzman and guest chefs Ramiro
and Gonzalo Viera.
Among the more exclusive
festival events was the "Tequila Mania" tequila
tasting held at Casa de Tequila. Known as a town favorite,
Casa de Tequila welcomed festival guests to the private
affair with samplings of the world's most celebrated tequilas.
Following the presentation, tequila enthusiasts enjoyed
the opportunity to shop for their favorite tequila label
in Casa de Tequila's shop offering an extensive collection,
serving as one of the more tangible festival souvenirs.
The Puerto Vallarta International
Gourmet Festival is by far the most anticipated event among
repeat travelers to the destination. Unparalleled in culture
and true beauty, Puerto Vallarta is rapidly growing in popularity
as one of the most desirable vacation and culinary destinations
in Mexico.

ADVENTURES ANNOUNCES NEW AIR ADVENTURE TOUR
The New Talpa and Mascota Tour Takes Visitors To New Heights
PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO (August 18,
2003)-Vallarta Adventures, the Puerto Vallarta tour and
excursion company presents its most recent air adventure,
The Talpa and Mascota Air Tour. This six-hour adventure
tour of Mascota and Talpa offers adventurous travelers
a unique opportunity to experience the genuine Mexican
society.
The Talpa and Mascota Air Tour offers
visitors insight into the everyday customs and traditions
of life in an authentic Mexican town. This guided tour
explores places few people have ever seen by educating
each traveler of Talpa and Mascota's forgotten cultures,
traditions and customs of the remote villages and historical
towns.
The first destination on the agenda
is the town of Mascota, a 16th century agricultural town
nestled at the foot of the Sierra Madre Mountains. Participants
will experience a scenic flight on one of Vallarta Adventure's
private charter airplanes taking observers over the canyons,
tropical forests, waterfalls and the fertile valleys of
the Sierra Madre Mountains. Among the many stops included
in the Mascota tour include the lush pine-and-oak forested
colonial town of Jalisco, a traditional "Old Mexico"
town established in 1592 by early Spanish colonists known
for its majestic town church dedicated to the Virgin de
los Dolores.
The production of Raicilla is one
of the traditional local arts, and no visit to Mascota
is complete without trying the town's favorite tequila.
Noted by connoisseurs as a smooth and civilized drink,
this liquor goes through an intricate production process
performed entirely by hand, and is commonly served chilled
in a wine glass. Knowledgeable guides will take visitors
on a tour of an authentic Raicilla distillery where the
best historic distilling techniques are combined with
the advantages of modern technology to produce this local
favorite.
As one of the most important religious
centers in Mexico, Talpa de Allande is the final visit
on the air tour. Famed for its beauty and religious significance,
Talpa remains a pastoral village set in a valley that
is surrounded by pine covered mountains. Talpa is famous
throughout Mexico for its colorful village ambiance and
the stately Gothic church that shelters the beloved virgin,
"Rosario de Talpa," one of the renowned "Three
Sister" virgins of Jalisco where throughout the year,
thousands of faithful pilgrims from all over Mexico make
the long journey to worship the sacred shrine with hopes

HOMAGE TO JOHN HUSTON"
TO HONOR LEGACY
OF FILM AND CINEMATOGRAPHY
Cine-Club Vallarta and the Cultural Department Of Puerto
Vallarta
To Hold Event November 22-29, 2003
Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco,
Mexico (July 18, 2003) -- Cine-Club Vallarta and the Cultural
Department of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico announce "An
Homage to John Huston" to take place November 22 –
29, 2003.
John Huston, one of the
most renowned directors in the history of cinema, helped
introduce Puerto Vallarta to the world more than 40 years
ago. The week-long event will pay tribute to the man who
filmed the movie The Night of the Iguana in 1963, making
a name for Puerto Vallarta that the world had not yet seen.
Huston was a lifelong aficionado of Mexico, where some of
his most notable work was filmed. Huston's accolades include
shaping the talents of Mexico's own cinema legends like
cinematographer Gabriel Figueroa and director-actor Emilio
Fernandez.
During the event, screenings
of various films selected from Huston's extensive archives
of classic self-directed motion pictures will be feature
each night. In addition, each evening will offer a brief
lecture, in both English and Spanish, to provide background
on Huston's life, his career and his personal recollections
of Mexico and Puerto Vallarta. All screenings and lectures
are open to the public and offered free of charge.
Opening night, Saturday,
November 22, 2003 will kick-off with a welcoming presentation
by distinguished guests and followed by the screening of
John Huston's directorial debut, The Maltese Falcon (1941).
The events will continue each night with a different viewing
of a Huston-directed film. On Saturday, November 29, 2003
the celebration will conclude with the screening of the
televised 1982 American Film Institute's Life Achievement
Award ceremony for John Huston. All presentations will be
held on the Rio Cuale island's new cultural center, just
steps from the John Huston statue.
The combination of lectures
and film screenings is an excellent opportunity for travelers
to Puerto Vallarta to discover John Huston's unique approach
to filmmaking and his genuine style of directing. The extent
of Huston's affection for Mexico and Puerto Vallarta was
poignantly made clear when Huston chose to live the last
20 years of his life in the region.
John Huston fills the
center of a rich legacy of filmmaking. The Huston family
is the only one in which there are three generations of
Academy Award winners: his father Walter Huston, John himself
and daughter Anjelica Huston have each received Oscars for
their superior work in the art of film. Joining in the festivities
and the events during the Homage will be Huston family members
and friends, including many Puerto Vallarta residents, who
will share stories about the life and times of this truly
remarkable man, the legendary John Huston.
