Discover the beauty of Mismaloya

All the beaches in Jalisco have their own special charm and endless attractions for all tastes and ages, but this time we will focus on Mismaloya and its beach. A beautiful place that is the result of the fusion of the Sierra Madre Occidental hills in the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Mismaloya Beach

At a distance of only 9 miles along the coast south of Puerto Vallarta, you'll find this paradise-like beach where you can enjoy various activities that will brighten your Mexican vacation even more.

This beautiful beach is one that enjoys a lot of fame in Puerto Vallarta, and was the scene of the movie "The Night of the Iguana" in the mid-60's, a John Huston movie based on the work of Tennessee Williams, that starred Richard Burton, Deborah Kerr and Ava Gardner.

It was the film and the torrid romance between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton that immediately transformed Puerto Vallarta from a fishing village that nobody knew into a striking and picturesque destination in Mexico and eventually into the world-famous tropical destination that it is today.

Besides being the natural scenery for the movie, Mismaloya has a unique beauty, which, of course, has helped it to become a favorite among tourists and locals.

This beautiful beach, surrounded by jungle, where the Mismaloya creek meets the sea, has an length of approximately 900 ft. This is a beautiful setting of sand, sea and palm trees, surrounded by the mysterious mountain jungle that is populated by a surprising variety of birds, armadillos, deer, jaguars, pumas and many other species, all this makes an exceptional backdrop for Mismaloya, which undoubtedly you should take the time to experience.

This beautiful beach with clear and gentle water, is also a favorite for those who enjoy sports such as scuba diving, water skiing and sailing. The latter is an excellent choice for families that can enjoy and take advantage of visiting this beautiful beach and enjoy it on a boat, breathing in the beautiful scenery this place has to offer.

Also half a mile north of Mismaloya is the ecological reserve of Los Arcos, this set of rocks is inhabited by various aquatic species and birds and is a very attractive place to visit. You can also dive and discover the life and color underneath the water, Los Arcos is a must for divers and snorkeling enthusiasts.

Now, if your desire is to rest and relax, just lie under the shade of a palm tree and admire the view, better still, enjoy it with a delicious cocktail or perhaps right under the sun so you can obtain an enviable tan (do not forget your sun protection cream).

Likewise, it is worth mentioning the treasures of Puerto Vallarta’s Mismaloya that you can find more to the south. The beaches of Quimixto, Yelapa, Majahuitas and Las Animas, are not only wonderful and quiet, but beautiful and idyllic, you should definitely take the time to visit them too, take into account that they are only accessible by sea.

If you choose to navigate these beautiful and transparent water, or rest peacefully on the beach, or if you want to practice sports, go shopping, or see some art, Mismaloya has excellent boutiques and all kinds of entertainment for its visitors, and excellent world-class accommodation too.

You can catch the Mismaloya bus for under 2 dollars in Puerto Vallarta, at the corner of Basilio Badillo and Constitución street, look for the only orange colored bus line with a sign that says Mismaloya/Boca, can't miss it.
