Puerto Vallarta is set to welcome a record-breaking 7 million visitors this year, thanks to a significant increase in flight options and larger aircraft capacities. This surge in tourism is expected to boost the local economy by 7 to 10 percent.
Luis Villaseñor Nolasco, director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, noted that airlines are now operating larger planes, such as the Airbus 350, which can accommodate more passengers per flight. This increased capacity, coupled with new routes, will contribute to the influx of tourists.
As the winter season approaches, Puerto Vallarta is anticipating a significant influx of Canadian visitors. The first snowfall in Canada typically triggers an increase in travel to warmer destinations like Puerto Vallarta. To cater to this demand, Sunwing Airlines will launch a new weekly route from Victoria, Canada, starting in December. Additionally, WestJet and Air Transat have announced new routes and increased frequencies to Puerto Vallarta.
