Mexico is expecting a significant boost in tourism during the upcoming November holiday, with Puerto Vallarta leading the pack in terms of hotel occupancy. According to the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR), the country is projected to see a 4.8% increase in tourism spending compared to the same period in 2023, reaching a total of 42.49 billion pesos.
The November holiday, which commemorates the Mexican Revolution, is a long weekend that typically sees a surge in domestic travel. This year, Puerto Vallarta is expected to achieve an impressive 81.9% hotel occupancy rate, outperforming other popular destinations like Cancún (86.4%), Riviera Maya (85.7%), and Los Cabos (80.7%).
The “Buen Fin” shopping event, which coincides with the November holiday, is also expected to contribute significantly to the economic boost. The Confederation of Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (CONCANACO-SERVYTUR) forecasts that retail sales during this period will reach 165.5 billion pesos, a 10.3% increase compared to 2023.
