Puerto Vallarta has emerged as the top tourism destination in Jalisco, generating over 52% of the state’s total tourism revenue during the recent long weekend, according to preliminary data from the State Tourism Information System (SITE).
The state of Jalisco reported a total tourism revenue of approximately 1.9 billion Mexican pesos (MXN) during the long weekend of November 11-17, 2024. Of this amount, over 1 billion MXN was attributed to Puerto Vallarta alone, marking a 15% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Guadalajara, Jalisco’s capital city, followed closely behind with a tourism revenue of 785 million MXN, representing a 7% increase year-over-year.
The data also revealed that Jalisco welcomed an estimated 758,000 visitors during the long weekend. Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara were the most popular destinations, attracting over 144,000 and 438,000 visitors, respectively.
Hotel occupancy rates in Jalisco were notably high, with Puerto Vallarta achieving an estimated 80% occupancy rate and Guadalajara reaching 68%.
