The thrilling International Charro Championship in Puerto Vallarta concluded with a dramatic victory for the Querétaro-based team, Villa Oro. The championship, held at the Lienzo Charro Miguel “Prieto” Ibarría, drew large crowds eager to witness the traditional Mexican sport.
In a closely contested final, Villa Oro emerged victorious with a total score of 463 points, securing the championship title. Hot on their heels was the Zacatecas team, El Soyate, who achieved an impressive 460 points, thanks in part to an exceptional “paso de la muerte” performed by Asunción Sáenz.
Other competing teams included Tamaulipecos (387 points), Rancho Hierro Santo (346 points), and Cuenca del Papaloapan (320 points).
The women’s competition, known as escaramuzas, was equally exciting. The team Regionales de San Juan del Río from Querétaro claimed second place with 287 points, followed by Ribereña de Chapala with 285 points and Rancho La Quinta from Nayarit with 282 points.
