For the third consecutive year, the state of Jalisco will be the venue for the Ariel Awards, Mexico’s most significant film accolades. However, in a new development, Alejandro Tavares, director of Filma Jalisco, announced that Puerto Vallarta will be the host city for the 2025 ceremony, marking a change from the previous location in Guadalajara.
Tavares revealed this exciting news during the presentation of the Filma Jalisco 2025 agenda, emphasizing the strategic decision to develop new audiovisual production hubs within the state. He noted that efforts were made to ensure the awards remained in Jalisco, and this move to Puerto Vallarta is a key part of that strategy.
Jalisco first became the host of the Ariel Awards in 2023, following an agreement with the Mexican Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences (AMACC) to hold two consecutive editions in Guadalajara. The first of these took place on September 9th of that year at the Teatro Degollado. While Jalisco’s Secretary of Tourism, Michelle Fridman, clarified that the 2025 edition is not yet officially confirmed, she expressed strong confidence that negotiations with AMACC are in the final stages.
