Puerto Vallarta is currently hosting the vibrant 19th Vallarta Azteca International Folklore Festival, transforming its iconic Malecón into a dynamic international stage. The festival, which began on May 2nd and will continue through May 9th, kicked off with a colorful parade along the Paseo Díaz Ordaz, stretching from the Sheraton Buganvilias hotel to the landmark Los Arcos del Malecón amphitheater. Following the parade, a free gala performance was held for both locals and visitors, an event supported by the administration of Luis Munguía González to further promote culture in the city.
This year’s edition of the festival features the participation of 17 folkloric dance groups from countries including Poland, South Korea, Ghana, Colombia, Chile, Bolivia, and El Salvador, as well as various states across Mexico.
Recognition was given to the active collaboration of students and teachers from CECyTE Jalisco in the organization of the festival. All performances throughout the Vallarta Azteca International Folklore Festival are free to the public, and the complete schedule of events can be found on the social media pages of FESTVA and the Vallarta Institute of Culture.
