The Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) is firmly establishing itself as a key driver of regional tourism and mobility, reporting robust growth while simultaneously advancing a major infrastructure project. In 2024, the airport successfully connected 6.8 million passengers to the popular destinations of Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit, demonstrating its pivotal role in the region’s economy.
The airport currently operates up to 54 routes during the high season, managing over 1,000 weekly operations, which positions it among the most active terminals in the country. PVR ranks fifth nationally in international connectivity, boasting 23 routes to the United States and 15 to Canada, complemented by a strong domestic flight network.
To accommodate this sustained increase in traffic and solidify its strategic position, the airport is undertaking the construction of its New Terminal Building (NET). This crucial project has already reached a significant 54% completion rate, according to the Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP).
The new infrastructure is designed to double the airport’s operational capacity and features a strong focus on sustainability. The design incorporates the use of renewable energy, efficient water management systems, landscaping with native species, and an emphasis on the principles of a circular economy, ensuring PVR grows responsibly.
