Puerto Vallarta is set to begin its most cherished and vibrant religious celebration as the Fiestas Guadalupanas return to the city center from December 1 to 12. This 12-day festival honors the Virgin of Guadalupe with a lively and spectacular display of faith, culture, and deep community gratitude.
Designated as the “Intangible Heritage of the State of Jalisco,” the annual celebration draws immense participation, featuring approximately 400 processions culminating at the iconic Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. These processions are rich with cultural expression, showcasing ornate carriages, mesmerizing folkloric dancers, spirited Mariachi music, and vibrant firework displays.
The festival transforms the downtown area, with central plazas bustling with energy and commerce. Visitors and locals alike can experience the lively atmosphere created by street vendors offering a wonderful array of regional specialties, traditional foods, fresh fruits, and unique crafts.
The festivities build toward the grand finale on December 12 with the Peregrinación de los Favorecidos (Pilgrimage of the Favored), which often draws up to 20,000 devoted participants. This massive procession is a powerful demonstration of collective faith and unity within the community.
