The construction of the Amado Nervo Bridge, a key infrastructure project that will connect Bahía de Banderas with Puerto Vallarta, is reaching important milestones. The project has begun to take shape with the placement of the first “whales”—the enormous beams that will support the road surface—on the pillars on the Nayarit side.
This ambitious project, which spans the Ameca River between San Vicente and Ixtapa, is progressing at an impressive pace. In fact, authorities from the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) have confirmed that the work is ahead of schedule. Thanks to this momentum, it is estimated that the bridge could be completed between July and August 2026, several months ahead of the original delivery date.
The main structure over the river will have 800 piles, the vast majority of which have already been completed. At the same time, construction crews continue to pour pillars on both sides of the state border, ensuring steady progress from Nayarit to Jalisco. Once completed, the Amado Nervo Bridge will have a total length of two kilometers, including a main section of 800 meters over the riverbed. With a width of 24 meters and six lanes of traffic, it will become one of the most modern and significant road arteries in the region, facilitating smooth transit between both tourist destinations.
