On February 15, 2026, Puerto Vallarta will host the second edition of its 21K Tourist Half Marathon, a historic event as it is the first in Mexico with an elite category endorsed by World Athletics. With a prize pool of over 260,000 pesos, the competition will attract high-performance runners and amateurs from across the country, who will race along the coastline, culminating in an exciting victory lap at the Agustín Flores Contreras Stadium.
The event offers options for all levels, with distances of 21K (elite and general), 5K recreational, and a 3K family walk. Space is limited to 1,000 participants, and current registration fees, available until January 31, range from 450 to 800 pesos. Each participant will receive a complete kit that includes a commemorative dry fit T-shirt, finisher’s medal, hydration, and electronic timing with a professional chip.
For the event, authorities have scheduled the closure of central lanes from 2:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on race day, so citizens are advised to take precautions. This initiative, promoted by the municipal government and the Halcones Vallarta club, seeks to consolidate the destination as a world leader in sports tourism, combining high-level competition with the spectacular natural landscapes of the bay.
