Vallarta Limpio, a new volunteer-led clean-city initiative, has launched a pilot program in Puerto Vallarta’s Zona Romántica to reduce litter and overflowing trash in one of the destination’s busiest visitor neighborhoods.
The group says its mission is to bring residents, businesses, community organizations and city government together around practical action: better waste disposal, public awareness, volunteer cleanups and stronger neighborhood participation. BanderasNews reports that the organizing committee includes Bob Price, Francie Nguyen, Jeff Wright, Mikel Alvarez and Jesus Reyes, and that the group is in the process of obtaining Asociación Civil nonprofit status.
The first phase focuses on permanent cement-block trash receptacles in high-need locations, plus additional metal street receptacles along sidewalks. Vallarta Limpio says sponsorships will help fund future installations, with cement-block receptacles estimated at about 50,000 pesos and metal street receptacles at about 5,000 pesos.
For visitors, the practical impact should be most visible around the Old Town corridor that connects restaurants, shops, galleries and nearby Los Muertos Beach. If the pilot works, organizers plan to expand the model neighborhood by neighborhood across Puerto Vallarta.
The initiative fits a larger visitor-service priority: keeping shared streets, beaches and public spaces clean as Puerto Vallarta grows across its distinct city zones. Travelers can help by using proper receptacles, joining cleanup activities when available and encouraging businesses that support the program.
