Puerto Vallarta closed July 2026 with hotel occupancy near 68 percent, placing the destination above Mexico’s national summer forecast.
Banderas News and Contralínea both reported the July figure, citing local hotel-sector data and comments from Abel Villa Sánchez, president of the Puerto Vallarta Hotels and Motels Association. The result was slightly below July 2025, but local hoteliers described it as positive because it stood above the 65 percent national hotel-occupancy estimate for Mexico’s summer vacation period.
Contralínea also cited the federal Tourism Secretariat’s summer outlook of roughly 22.4 million tourists arriving to hotel rooms nationwide. Against that benchmark, Puerto Vallarta’s July result put the city about three percentage points ahead of the national expectation.
For travelers, the numbers point to steady demand across Puerto Vallarta’s hotel and resort sector even before the high winter season. Visitors planning late-2026 trips should still compare zones, watch air-service options through Puerto Vallarta’s airport, and book early around holidays, events and popular beachfront areas near the Malecón.
Villa Sánchez told local media that hotels are looking toward winter with cautious optimism, supported by early demand signals from commercial partners and airlines.
