Puerto Vallarta will stage its civic-military parade for the 216th anniversary of Mexico’s Independence on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in downtown Centro.
The municipal government, through the Civic Events Coordination and the Public Education Directorate, is inviting public and private schools plus civic and cultural associations to take part. Registration remains open through Wednesday, September 9. Each contingent may include up to 150 people. The Mexican Navy’s 12th Naval Zone is already rehearsing. Second Master Citlali Montserrat Araiza Delgado said the naval contingent will include 296 personnel, 216 men and 80 women, with a command group, war band, honor guard, guidons and standards representing the Secretaría de Marina.
The parade will move along main downtown streets, with a focal point at Plaza de Armas and the Puerto Vallarta Malecón, where residents and visitors traditionally gather for patriotic celebrations. Travelers staying in the historic center should plan around morning street activity and can check the city’s events calendar for the rest of the Fiestas Patrias weekend.
