Puerto Vallarta will be one of 11 Jalisco host cities for the 2026 Festival de las Almas, a statewide Día de Muertos program with about 350 activities from Oct. 24 through Nov. 15. Organizers say the events are free for families and visitors.
Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro presented the second edition on Monday, Sept. 28, at Guadalajara’s Panteón de Belén. The Agencia Estatal de Entretenimiento de Jalisco and the state tourism secretariat are organizing the festival, which grows from six venues last year to 11 this year. Puerto Vallarta stays on the list with Guadalajara, Zapopan, Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Chapala, and Zapotlanejo. New hosts are San Pedro Tlaquepaque, Sayula, Mazamitla, Lagos de Moreno, and Cocula.
El Informador reports that Puerto Vallarta is slated for about 28 activities under the name La Orilla de las Ánimas, using the coast and the landscape of Banderas Bay. Visitors already walking the Malecón or spending time in Puerto Vallarta’s historic center should watch for ofrendas, catrinas, and night programs along the waterfront. State tourism secretary Michelle Fridman Hirsch described a coordinated festival with more than 350 activities across the 11 municipalities. Lorena Martínez Ramírez, director of the state entertainment agency, said people can come with their families, and visitors are welcome too. The full program by city will be published on official channels, so confirm listings closer to late October.
