Villa Premiere Hotel & Spa – albertahearts
We chose this hotel because we wanted adults only and the ratings were very good. We didn’t expect to have lucked out as we did though. We chose not to do the all-inclusive because we wanted to experience Puerto Vallarta’s culture instead of feeling obligated to stay at the resort since this was the first time in PV for both of us. We did have breakfast at the hotel most days and the service was impeccable.
The location of the hotel made it easy to get around and we were walking distance to virtually everything we could have wanted. Even the tours we wanted to go on were accommodated exactly to what we asked.
The hotel rooms were immaculate, the spa suite was well worth the upgrade, and the cleaning staff was not only efficient but friendly. In fact, the Concierge who comes from Switzerland went the extra mile with everything she did for us. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to feel pampered.
Things you liked, things that could be improved?
– I can’t specifically think of anything the hotel could have improved on. They seemed genuinely interested in making our experience wonderful and delivered exactly that.
You went out to eat in town, where did you go? Any goods and bads?
– We ate at Andales (okay, not great), La Destileria on the Malecon – excellent service, very good food. Oscar’s further south on the Malecon was the best we had, service and food were impeccable, and a very memorable way to spend our Valentine’s day. We were also told that the next time we go not to miss Barcelona’s – a tapas bar but the food is supposed to be extraordinary and I heard this from several people.
Tours, did you take any, how were they, price/quality, etc.
– We took several tours, all through Vallarta Adventures. We enjoyed the evening Pirate ship, Rhythms of the Night, the Canopy tour zip lining, and the Sea Safari. For the entertainment, we felt they were all good value. We also did parasailing from the beach and it was money well spent.
About Vallarta, what did you like, not like, could be improved.
– We like the fact that it was authentic Mexico. We loved that the location of the hotel let us easily walk the Malecon and surrounding area, taking in the shops, sights, smells, and overall atmosphere, all while hearing waves on the beach.
Some information that you missed online, that could have been useful before your trip to Puerto Vallarta?
– We initially booked in October, so we had months to research everything. This sight was one that helped us prepare for our trip and make the most of it. We’re very grateful to all PV bloggers here that helped us have a fantastic trip.
If there was to be one thing I’d warn to be wary of, tequila tasting is often a way to try and encourage you into timeshares. Also several of the tour kiosks are in the timeshare business and the tour part is a lure. If knowing that from the outset, it’s easy to avoid awkwardness. Beach vendors selling everything from wraps to jewelry are easy to dissuade if you just say “no thank you”.
Melia – JeanieRich
We (couple) stayed at Melia Puerto Vallarta for a week in late April; the food was very good and nicely prepared, the drinks were exceptional for an AI, we actually something other than Sol in the beer category! Staff was all great, exceptional service everywhere and I would highly recommend the hotel. The pool is beautiful, it’s right on the ocean, a tad pricy but this was a special occasion for us. We did the $35.00 jungle tour to Chico’s and two other places, well worth the $$’s. I have stayed in a number of hotels and different areas but never by the boats at the Marina, it was beautiful.
We would like to go back and rent a condo for a month or three in the near future, PV is a very special place, who knows someday we may call it home once we understand what’s available for seniors in the healthcare arena, daily living, driving, etc.
Chrisnick – Chick trip #3
Not sure how I want to write this report….day by day or try and pick the highlights. I tend to ramble so read, skim or skip as much as you like.
Our flight arrived on the 12th at around 10 pm. Took the airport taxi (26 US or 230 pesos) to Loma Del Mar. The condo was awesome!! We spend about 5 minutes looking around and got directions to our favorite street! Apaches for martinis..yum!!! We met a lot of interesting people there including a retired principal. Ted was 69 and awesome!! He ended up showing at Roxy’s later that night and we danced till the wee hours of the morning.
The next day my daughter (23) arrived to join us for a week. We hit the beach and ran into Kim (another Loma del Mar owner) at Playa Los Arcos. We ended up walking to one of the tequila stores we frequent and spent a bit of time at Breezes…bar which is now closed. I have read some negative reports about it but we had a pretty good time there having free drinks and made plans to meet some of them at Bodeguita del Medio. Enjoyed dinner at Cafe Tizoc and said Hi to our favorite waiters there. Coconut shrimp! Delicious! Watched the carnival parade on the street. Not as big as last year but still good. Ended up “adopting” Jordy. He had been traveling with his family and was now on his own. Walked along the Malecon and picked up a beverage to go at Day Off Beach Bar. This was a place we were too frequent a lot in the next two weeks. My daughter made friends with one of the bartenders. Really nice guys that we still talk to. I seemed to adopt a lot of sons in those two weeks…. Off to the Cuban bar where low and behold the owners of Breezes showed up! Oh yea…and Jesus from the tequila store. We had a blast. My daughter and I love dancing salsa and dancing partners are easy to get including the waiters! Fun times. Stopped off at Roxy’s where my new sons from Day Off Beach Bar also arrived. We ended the night with toasted tomato sandwiches at our place….I love having a condo….
Review – Fiesta Americana- load_warrior1
My wife and I stayed at Fiesta Americana for 5 nights, May 10 – 15. First time at that resort, like the 10th time to PV. We got a GREAT rate on an air/room package and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very nice and well maintained, the rooms are all ocean-view with a balcony. We were on the 6th floor with a perfect view of downtown and the bay. The beach isn’t that great but the pool was nice, very warm. We had a couple of breakfasts and 1 lunch at the hotel, food was pretty typical. While we were there they lowered all the food prices 25%. The only downside was there’s pretty much nothing within walking distance but it’s a short cab/bus ride downtown.
Overall we had a great time and would stay there again, for what we paid it exceeded our expectations. The resort was only maybe 25-30% full, and El Centro and Old Town were pretty slow too. Basically meant we could go to any restaurant we wanted and not have a wait, so it’s not all bad. Forum Post
