While many cruises stop in Puerto Vallarta as a port of call, the city is rarely used as an embarkation port for cruise departures. Most major cruise lines that visit Puerto Vallarta will depart from U.S. ports instead. However, there are some small ship and luxury cruises that do embark from Puerto Vallarta before heading along the Mexican Riviera. But it is much more common to visit PV as a cruise stop than a departure harbor.
