Looking for Open Air Expeditions

Post by Claire » Wed Jun 13, 2001 7:41 pm

We're going to PV next week, and want to do the dolphins thing. One user suggested Open Air Expeditions as a chance to see them in the wild rather than the more pricey (and seemingly less fulfilling) options that are around. Does anyone know where we can find them? Do they have a website? We can find no trace....!

Hi there,

If you'd accessed the Official PV Site's links section you'd find them under Activites and Tours... their URL is: http://www.vallartawhales.com/

Have a great time

Do they guarantee that you will find dolphins to swim with? or will you have to make do with a cold wet fishey if the dolphins arent feeling too playful?

Looked up Open Air Expeditions....looks like they state the whale watching season is December-April; don't know how that helps anyone in June. Does anyone know if they still go out looking for Dolphins?

They always have biologists out doing the dolphin thing. There are large pods of Pacific Bottlenose that inhabit the bay all year round. While they may not choose to approach you directly in the wild, they will swim around you, curious creatures that they are. It's still a very rewarding experience, and you learn a lot about them from your guide.

If you want to see some great pics of dolphins in the wild, go to this website:

www.todopv.com

and click on "things to do", then "excursions", then "dolphins".

Yes the go out all year, when there are no whales they spend more time with dolphins. They always find some and, depending on conditions (there are marine biologists on board), you can enter the water. It's then up to the dolphins if they want to interact and sometimes they do. With no rewards.
