What Accent Do You Have ?

Short quiz to determine what American accent you have . Mine was north central - I'm often mistaken for being a Canadian . :D

Mine was right on the button - the Inland North. I was born and raised around the Great Lakes and that´s exactly what it said. And Smitty, having met you in person, I can say that you definitely have a Canadian accent. Mine is now somewhere between a Michigan and Ontarian accent, although I can sound very Canadian when I want to. When I first moved to Canada after getting married I got a job and my workmates teased me unmercifully about my accent so I finally threw in the towel and learned how to take on the Canadian vowel pronunciations. I no longer say "dahler" instead of "dollar", for instance, but I´ll never get the hang of "aboot" instead of "about"!

Well, it has me as "inland north" and I did live in Buffalo til I was 7, but I've "bin" on the west coast since then. Guess it shows that what you learn in those formative years stays with you.

Yep, They teached me well in school! The one thing about the English language is that once it migrated from merry old England, it was improved on greatly.

Here in the Northeast we pronounce the Queen's English the way that 'she' would prefer it to be spoken!

but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" ... Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop".
They sure got that right!

But the big question they missed is do you call it a "water fountain" or a "bubbler"?

Mine came up midlands and that was right on, I was born in Missouri and have lived within 25 miles of where I started all my life.

Well, I picked up the West Coast accent when I moved out years ago, but when I've been drinkin' my Joisey Girl accent takes over. But to talk to me now, you'd think I'd lived in Canada all my life, eh?

So, officially I have the East coast, West Coast, Northwest, Canadian accent. whew!!
