June 30th Multi Board Meeting at Roma

Post by Sr. Fox » Wed Jun 06, 2007 3:25 pm

Some of us have been planning something to spice up the long quiet Summers here in PV. The plan is to do a multi bulletin board meeting at Cafe Roma once per month with some real deals for all board members and their friends. Each month there will be something different. (excuse for party) We have some birthdays and anniversaries coming up... like we need an excuse.

Saturday June 30th
6:00 pm to close at 10:00 pm (or later if we have to)
Free Corona and Pacifico (limited amount while they last)
Free Pizza snacks (also while they last)
I might even throw in some free tequila samples.
The webcam will be rolling.

We are hoping to do something like this for the months of June, July, August and September but let's try the June one, then vote to see if we continue with the other months. I bet we can have some fun.

Let us know what you think?

Sure, I'd like that, but considering my trips to Vallarta aren't too often, one may be a more reasonable target :-) In any case I hope you have a good turnout and lotsa fun.

Fox On The Run

Post by smitty » Sat Jul 21, 2007 11:52 am

Sr Fox , I hope this never happens at one of the meetings ! :)

SALISBURY -- The term "crazy like a fox" is defined as a foolish action that equates into something more serious than its original intent.

An ordinary night at a North Salisbury restaurant became crazy after a fox began chasing two people in the establishment's parking lot early Thursday morning.

"It was a bizarre thing," said Sara Hall, a manager at Chef Fred's Chesapeake Steakhouse, Bar & Grill. "I've never been so scared in my life."

The incident occurred around 1:38 a.m. when some customers encountered a wild fox in the parking lot. Feeling threatened, the customers ran inside the building's slow-release door, only to be followed by the animal.

Once inside the building, the fox scampered into the dining room area, into the bar area and back to the dining area, causing employees and patrons to take cover.

Hall, who returned to the restaurant for a co-worker's birthday party, said she saw one girl jump on top of a booth table while another man in the lobby attempted to reach higher ground by jumping atop chairs shortly before losing his footing and falling over.

Being curious, Hall went to discover what was causing the ruckus, only to become part of it as the fox lunged at her and latched onto her hand.

Once the fox grabbed hold of her hand, several methods were used to make the creature relinquish its grip.

"One of the bouncers at the bar starts to choke the fox, and it still wouldn't let go," Hall said.

Another patron attempted to pry the animal's mouth open, only to be bitten on his fingertip.

After minutes of struggling, the fox let go of Hall's hand after three people and three to four jolts from a Taser subdued the beast.

The fox was then taken out of the restaurant and thrown into a field. When restaurant employees went to check on the animal, there was no trace of it, alive or dead.

Fred Briggeman, co-owner of the restaurant, was in disbelief of the whole situation when he received a call from the restaurant around 2 a.m. and arrived there shortly before ambulances got to the scene.

"My first response was 'Are you kidding me?,' " he said. "This is unreal."

Briggeman said that footage from a surveillance camera shows the fox running through the restaurant and people ducking under tables and the animal being carried out, but there was no footage of the animal biting Hall.

When Hall arrived at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, she noticed that another person had suffered injuries from a fox attack in an area close to the restaurant.

Hall received seven shots that morning in case the animal was rabid and must come back twice a week for the next three to four weeks for more shots. She later learned she received an infection from the fox bite.

Despite the battle scars from one of the strangest nights she ever endured, she was fortunate that the entire thing took place around last call and not earlier in the day.

"Thank goodness it was close to closing time or it could have been a lot worse," she said.
