Restaurants

Anyone have any suggestions for a romantic dinner? La Palapa sounded perfect but over 2,000 pes's for their Romantic Dinner on the beach. Out of my price range. We will be staying at the Riu Jallisco. This will be our first time in PV plus an all inculsive. Thanks in advance.

Since you're staying out in Nuevo Vallarta you might want to look into Bucerias (a smaller town to the north and much closer than coming all the way back into Puerto Vallarta). La Palapa, as you mentioned, besides being expensive is a good 1/2 hour drive from where you'll be staying.

As far as romantic, does it have to be on the beach? If you *do* want to come into town there's all kinds of charming places in "Old Town" or downtown in the more like 200-300 peso per person range... The Red Cabbage, Chez Elena, a number of places along Basilo Badillo (dubbed 'restaurant row'), My Rueda, etc.

Or the higher end spots like Trio, Le Bistro, River Cafe, Cafe des Artistes, etc. which are definitely more expensive, but don't think they'd top $200USD (but not sure about that).

River Cafe and Trio are our favorites for a romantic occasion. A fine meal, cocktails, a couple of flaming coffees with tip, usually runs right around $100USD for two. The past few trips, we seem to lean more towards River Cafe. Could be the atmosphere of being outdoors, or because we like to feed the river cats after dinner.

For 2000 pesos, you can take the cruise to Los Calatas (spelling?), enjoy a nice ride past a very scenic PV as the sun sets, then have a romantic dinner on the beach. Food and drinks included. Search for Adventure Vallarta for more information. PS - don't go to the "Special" Brazilian restarant at the Riu, food was poor at best.
