Airport Question

Post by Deb1741 » Sat Dec 02, 2006 12:24 am

My friend and I will be visiting PV in January. He flies in around 1:30pm and I get in around 3:45 pm. Will he be able to wait for me at baggage claim? Or will we need to make arrangements to meet somewhere else. It is his first time to PV and my 2nd time (my first trip was 10 years ago). Thanks for your help.

where are you staying? if he wants to wait at the airport, i suggest going over the pedestrian walkway and getting the prawn burritos at the restaurant on the other side of the highway, then he can meet you at the gateway where all the timeshare sharks wait for unsuspecting prey coming out of customs...

We are staying downtown. He would really like to stay in the airport and wait for my flight to arrive. Is that going to be a possiblity? Thank you for your help.

yes, he can wait at the airport, it's more comfortable outside of customs, airport is newly remodeled, he can meet you right outside the customs passageway.

Security

He can't wait for you at luggage pick up...not unless he wants to be tagged immediately as a security risk. Luggage pick up in PV is after immigration but before you clear customs, he can't loiter in there, especially not for 2 hours.

There are waiting areas when you clear customs and get outside the timeshare gauntlet (tell him to pass through the smoked glass doors and don't talk to anyone until he gets on the other side of them). Have him wait for you there, plenty of places to sit and grab a beer...which I'm sure he'll want to do since he has a 2 hour wait.

Jennybean & benito- thanks so much for the advice. My friend is French Canadian so I'll tell him if he has to say anything to the timeshare sharks to say it in French- LOL. He is so excited about going. The only place he's ever visited for a vacation is here in Montana so this will be quite the treat for him. I really enjoyed PV when I was there 10 years ago but it was only for 3 nights. This time we're doing 8 nights :D so we'll really get to explore and have fun.

Airport

The airport is small you can meet hin right outside the baggage claim. If you fligts are from the US they will not allow to wait at the baggage claim becuse you have to go through customs. Even if your fligt goes thur Mexico City.

Thanks sdonn for your reply. I'm flying out of Montana through Salt Lake City and my friend is flying out of Toronto through Houston. I guess they changed his flight time out of Houston so now he will only arrive about 45 minutes before me which is way better then the little over 2 hours it was to start out with. We're both starting to get real exited---only 5 weeks from today :D !
