OK, I have been to Pv many many times , but have only once used a taxi from the ariport ( to a B&B all others times we had transfers included) Am planning a daughters and daughter in law only trip, 4 of us gals, will be arriving a couple of hours apart, but want to go together to the GCP. Before when it was just hubby and me the trip into town was approx. $25.00, no problem, but do any of you exprets know if the price would be more to the hotel zone for 4 people??? I guess my question is do they charge extra for more than 2 people??thanks

When taking a cab FROM the airport, there is no negotiation...the price is fixed, based on zones. I THINK (if memory serves) the price TO the hotel zone (Sheraton etc.) from the airport is circa 22.00 US.

If ya did...it was across the street...the booth in the airport doesn't haggle...even in Spanish! (That I'm aware of).

I think you paid to much. We were in PV in Nov and paid 20 USD for 6 of us to the Rosita... and yes we haggled on the price (at the airport). In the past we have crossed the street and got a taxi there for 10 or 12 dollars. Good luck, and have a great time in PV....oh and by the way, I'm a daughter, if you think you need a bigger group I will sacrafice myself and volunteer to come and assist you with all the fun you're going to have.

I am somewhat confused on the price of a taxi from the airport to the hotel zone. According to this board "how to get around" the rated for 2 people from the airport to the hotel zone is US$10.

From the bottom of the link you posted:
Rates as of Oct. 31, 2005, subject to changes without warning, offered only for information purposes
So they are definitely out of date. I would expect to pay in a normal taxi from the airport to the hotel zone anywhere from 100 pesos to 200 pesos, depending on where you are going, and about half that coming back.

The taxi prices posted are interesting.
For going to Hotel Rosita it showed II: Buenaventura Hotel to Dreams, includes hotels like Costa Alegre, San Marina, Hotel Rosita to the south. Includes Villa Varadero to Grand Velas to the north.
--Prices--
Car (1 to 3 people): $215 pesos (approx. 20 dollars)
Van (1 to 5 people): $423 pesos (approx. 39 dollars)
Collective: $80 pesos (7.2 dollars per person)

I flew in Saturday Jan 20. My friend was supposed to get in 1 1/2 hours before me and was going to wait for me so we would take a taxi together. He had a connection out of Houston but the pilot had a heart attack and died enroute. The plane ended up going back into Texas to a small airport and by the time they got everything straightened out and a new crew in, he was 6 hours late getting into PV. I waited a hour and took a taxi to the Rosita. I had to pay $24. When he took a taxi he only paid $15. Wonder why there was such a difference?

Let's face it

...the airport taxi is a ripoff, and lugging luggage across the bridge to save $10 after plopping down hundreds for a plane ticket -- without haggling --just seems an undignified way to start a vacation. Just let it happen.

Playa Del Sol Costa Sur

Our timesare offers a service where somebody will be holding a card with our name on it after we exit customs and the cost is $28 for both of us. We are going to Playa Del Sol Costa Sur. Dont know if it is worth it or even if they will be there like they say but sounds like an easy way to start our vacation? They say air conditioned car and english speaking.

Any thoughts?

When I arrived I paid 250 pesos from the airport to the condo dowtown and up the hill. That was for 2 people, dont know if its more money for more people or hairy dogs.
