I apolgize as I read my comments. My writing skills are not that good !and did not allow me to convey what I was trying to get across My point was 1) I agree the practice of saving chairs stinks. But at the large resorts, I'm talking Marriott, Westin, Fiesta, Etc, Almost everyone does it and you hav...

unfortunately everyone does it ( I wish it wasn't so, and don't agree with the practice but in big resorts it the only way to get a good spot) and those who call themselves "semigod" believe they can tell others what to do!!! OK that a little harsh!!! Let's agree to disagree and we both wish the pra...

I don't hang by the pool anymore, but I used to gather offending towels and turn them in. I would leave their books behind in a nice pile. To me, 2 hours alone and a towel is abandoned, and in this resort, a lost towel costs $35. Now I go to the beach and rent a chair for 40p for the day (including...

Sunday is the best day to be in PV. We are heading down the end of March and I'm disappointed that I'm only there Mon-Sat. Sunday night on the Malecon is a sight to see. All the locals come out, artists, entertainment, free concerts and performances in the ampitheatre on the Malecom. It's the night ...

Mariachi music
Help! I've been to PV several times and we are in search of "authentic" experiences. I remember wandering in old Vallarta one night and happening on to a open Mariachi type bar. It was mixed with many locals and some tourist. We had a blast there. I think it was Mariachi Loco. Is it still a fun plac...

Romantic Restaurant/Views: My number one recommendation that takes in city and water is El Panorama ask for a table on the rooftop. It's on the top of an older 7 story hotel (the La Siesta, I think) overlooking the town and the bay. Runners up: Le Cliff The food is average but the view is nothing le...

I don't think you'll have much of a problem getting served alcohol there either. A few years back I was at Carlo's O'Brien's talking a beautiful young lady who was having a cocktail. She was with a group of about 8 girls, all were in there drinking. Later I found out all were in High School (yikes!)...

I haven't stayed at the Velas but have a friend from CA who stayed there last year. He said he'd give it 3/4 stars. My impression is that it's not as nice as the Westin or Marriott but still a nice place to stay. All 3 are in the Marina district which is nice. Anymore advice needed, feel free to pos...

We are going to be there the same time . Getting married on the 14th and in PV on the 15th. We are staying at the Marriott. I have traveled to PV each year since '91 and have stayed at many hotels. Of those you listed, I rate the Westin the best by far and then the Fiesta Americana. I've stayed at b...
