Thank you for those suggestions Lynn. Are there any qualities or things you did that were special in these towns? Did you rent a car in PV and drive? Do you know if it is possible to fly into Guadalajara rent a car drive to PV and then fly back to the states from PV? Maybe this trip we will do the s...

 Yep, after I posted I realized that Mexico City wasn't really close enough. Maybe Guadalajara. But your suggestions are excellent. I'm not sure I'd want to drive, but maybe I could figure out how to bus or taxi some day trips. Are there any good tours that do the tortilla factory etc or are t...

We tried to do the Jungle Tour twice last year but each time the tour company cancelled it at the last minute because I guess not enough cruise ship people booked it. The first day they tried to put us on another tour without our realizing it and then made up something about the driver having car tr...

We just took the water taxi to Yelapa. It was great. We saw a Sea Turtle on the way when the boat stopped so someone could, um, answer nature's call. Odd, but fun. The boat guy walked us up to a little waterfall and did not ask for any money but we gave him a tip. You could do this without a guide. ...

Mexico City or other side trips????
I love Puerto Vallarta, have been there twice, and want to return, but would like to see a little more this time. I have 2 boys ages 4 and 9 and like our trips to be a little educational for all of us. (It relieves my guilt for taking them out of school) My Aunt fell in love with Mexico City. I know...

We just took the water taxi to Yelapa. A boat man offered to guide us up to the waterfall which you could probably do on your own if you want but it was nice having his commentary. It was fascinating seeing the island, but it is pretty small. I'm not sure a tour would be necessary. We ate lunch at o...

I just returned from PV travelling with two boys age two and seven. The Pirate Boat Tour (the daytime family version) was a huge hit with my 7 year old and the 2 year old did well too. Adults enjoyed it a lot. I personally got a little tired of the whole pirate game thing, but my son keeps talking a...
