Me too neverenuff. We arrived Sat for our annual 6 weeks, did our ritual big shopping at Walmart in Mezecales (including loading up on croissants and other goodies) and today spent our first leisurely day and it was glorious. We ate at Fajita Republic Sat night, ate in yesterday and this evening and...

IMHO the beach in Nuevo is far superior to those in the Hotel Zone or Puerto Vallarta proper. If one likes a wide, clean, extremely long(many miles) walking beach, then Nuevo Vallarta is the place to go. It is more residential, with large All Inclusive hotels and many condo and time share complexes....

Bucerias
First timers to Bucerias don't usually realize that there are two parts to Bucerias. The Central Part of the town, where the central square, beachfront restaurants and the market are located is one area. For restaurants, Adauto's and El Bruho are terrific with fantastic views. Many don't realize tha...

lagranny - you will first need to determine whether or not you want an All Inclusive hotel or not. If you want an all inclusive I believe the "best" hotel in Nuevo is the Grand Velas. I have also heard that the Marival is good. Dreams Villa Magna is the newest of the bunch and has been open long eno...

As you are staying at the Westin in the marina area, you should know that that there is a very large and lively restaurant scene steps from your hotel. While the number of restaurants in PV is endless and so many are good, it is nice not to have to go into PV for a meal. The restuarants at the Marin...

My favorite would be Vista Grill as well, but seeing that you mentioned "beach", I would suggest that you look at the La Palapa website. They are owned by the Vista Grill group and serve similar food, however the property is located on Los Muertos Beach, with views of the beach. But the views from s...

I think its pretty easy to discern those posters who could be labled "chronic complainers" from those who have legitemate gripes. Also I read them and average them, at least mentally. And some of the legit complaints can lead one to ask for certain sections, floors or stay away at certain times of t...

I hope Le Fort affords us a good experience this year. We went last year, just 2 of us and joined a larger group and had a terrific time, complete with the expensive cigars and 100 year old brandy. My DH swears that the cigars were cheaper and finer at Gilles than in town. I e-mailed Gilles about a ...

Oh now I understand Vallarta 13. I have not stayed at the Mayan so I don't know which is preferable. I have heard good things about it. One of the differences is that the Mayan is on the other side of the Marina, so not walable to the Paradise Village Mall. This is probably not a huge issue either w...

There is a new Mega which opened in December just before Bucerias. It is large, I am told, with a great selection of produce/meat/fish and a large selection of wine. It would be closer than going into PV. The grocery story at Paradise Village is adequate for milk/beer/ceral etc., but not sufficient ...

If you are interested in a different dining experience check out Le Fort. (There is a web page). This is a French Cooking school experience where a group of about 10 (you don't have to provide the whole group - we joined a group and had a fabulous time). The chef (I think his name is Guiles) prepare...

I don't know about the GCP but I guarantee that the beach at Paradise Village is much better than at the GCP. Also are you aware that the two locations you mention are in completely different areas. Paradise Village is in Nuevo Vallarta, a gated community. There is a great deal of action, so it is n...

I thought last year that we had successfully avoided the sharks, as we had arranged for a rental (Advantage) and we breezed by all of the chaos to the Advantage counter. No Problem - but hold on. The Advantage lot is off the airport property and a shuttle van escorts you to the Advantage lot. Guess ...

They disembark at the Marine Terminal and decide how to spend the day - either taking tranportation into town (15 min ride) or sign up for an excursion - of which there are many. I may be mistaken but I think most ships only stop in for the day, arriving early in the AM and departing around dinner t...

I'm so glad to hear that Fajita Republic is still great. It is always our first dining out experience the first night that we arrive, because it is close by. I'm not familiar with La Laguna, but will avoid it based on your experience. Out of curiosity where is it? Did you try Porto Bello near Paradi...
