Re:first timer needs help
Go for Playa Los Arcos, excellent location and you can walk everywhere, no problem. Flamingo Vallarta is in the Marina area, near the airport. Villa del Palmar Flamingos is in Nayarit, about 30 to 40 minutes from downtown Vallarta, roughly 150 pesos each way by cab, Flamingo Vallarta (Marina) is abo...

Re:Budgetary Questions
Hi Marcos, I live here year around, so I can help answer some budget questions maybe better than some. First what you pay for electricty will vary on a few details. Yes, higher if you use A/C- (much higher) so maybe 3000 pesos for two months, (CFE- the electric company goes by two month billings.......

Re:New fab restaurants?????
To get to Vista Grill, it is above Zona Romantica on the mountain side of HWY200, right past Medasist Hospital and the PeMex gas station. Take a left on Pulpito, the street next to the old Century 21 building (La Scala Building) and go up the hill and turn to the left, it is about another block up. ...

Hi Becky,
Here is the website for Profeco (In Spanish)
http://www.profeco.gob.mx/html/inicio/inicio.htm
You may want to find someone fluent or semi-fluent in Spanish to help you, including making a phone call direct. This is your best resource for help with your problem.
Good luck!

Have a great trip Ross! If you are going with a spouse or mate, see if you can still rent the gazeebo outside for a really romantic dinner. Ask at D'Antonio restaurant. I know someone who did it and they said it was the most romantic experience of their life! Let us know if they still change the roo...

Re:New Year's Eve reservations
Wait. Seriously, most restaurants have a set dinner that night, with a New Years Eve Party, a set dinner of many courses, music etc.....but none of this is even planned or advertised until December. Some of the restaurants that do Thanksgiving dinners haven't knocked down final menus or prices. I wo...

Hi Joey, I highly recommend the Presidente as well! It is an awesome hotel and perfect for anyone who liked the Camino Real and does not want the A/I route that Dreams is now. I would say the Presidente Inter-Continental would be the closest type of hotel to the Camino Real. I am sure there will be ...

They are privately owned condos, so each one is different inside, My friends used to rent one on the fifth floor which was great, but when they wanted to book it for a different trip it was full, so they found one available on the sixth floor which was absolutely beautiful. The owners recently gutte...

Huh, interesting, when I was there getting their advertising they said the sign painter screwed up the first time and they kept the name ever since. I love these urban legends! Who knows, great place either way!

Vaca's Grill on Francia in Versalles has excellent food and steaks, and live music on Saturday nights (usually a guitarist or a rock n roll band, not too loud) mainly locals here. (A block behind the Suites Del Sol Hotel) Good drinks, cold beer, pool table. Another place you may like is Club Noche o...

Hey Jiff, The older section is being renovated (most are finished) at the Tropicana...(the section above the pool). May be worth checking out next trip, as they have bigger balconies and excellent views. They may even add mini-fridges and coffee pots this year or next, (so they say) to these rooms i...

uh oh, and before I get chewed out from saying "bright colors" etc. I want to make it WELL KNOWN that my depictions of "bright colors- Mexican" in no way is meant to be taken as anything other than most people associate a tradtional Vallarta hotel as having decor from the area, usually with bright t...

Re:Bar Morro?
Is this the one on Aguacate next to the old youth hostel? If so, yes, both places have been torn down to make way for a six story condo complex with underground parking. If you liked Bar del Morro, try Viva Mexico up near the bridge by Los Arbolitos. It is on the road heading back from the bridge to...

Re:Grand Velas Questions
I agree with Chuck, the Grand Velas looks more like a hotel out of Bali (with all the teak) than Mexico. Definitely one of the least "Mexican" hotels in the area. (IE: when I say Mexican, I mean no bright colors in the rooms, as their color scheme is quite subdued, lots of imported teak and fabrics ...

Re:taxi fare amount for family?
Go to the Taxi stand inside the airport, there are two (next to each other), I prefer AeroMovil. Ask them how much...(It will depend on the amount of luggage if you can take a taxi or will need a van) for four people plus luggage. Keep in mind the taxis are the size of a Nissan Sentra... No matter w...

Hey Mrs B,
We must have been shoulder to shoulder at CyC's last night while the turtle was laying her eggs! I agree it was a wonderful event to witness.....
Now I am trying to figure out if we know each other:)

Re:50 something singles
Many of the locals in the 40-60 age range go to CYC's for sunset happy hour- and are usually seated around the red bar at the front. Besides Andale's, check out Que?Pasa above the Santa Barbara, it is an expat's hang out...plenty of people in that age range (actually a variety of ages) and they do a...

Suites Emperador has the pool across the street, Flor de Mango for use.... and the Trop does not have kitchens, although they are supposed to be renovating and possibly adding some Jr Suites with mini-fridges and coffee makers. I agree with everything Pamela said, although I did chuck it all and move down here, but only after I spent many trips visiting "not on vacation" and during months like July and September and during Semana Santa. I made sure I could handle all times of the year. I also came down knowing I would fore...
