Re:Conversion Rates
We prefer to take Canadian Traveller's Cheques and exchange them as we need them at the Scotia Inverlat Bank just off the Malecon. We get the current market exchange rate and no service charges. The ATMs are good but there is an international ATM fee each time you use it. We stay in Old Town, so the...

Re:Passports & Visas
Check with either a travel agent or your airline before leaving but, if you are a citizen of North America you won't need a passport. You'll be okay with a Government issued Birth Cerificate and photo ID, like a driver's licence. That's all we've been using. There is no question, if you are going to...

Re:Taxis......
Is it worth the savings to have to carry your luggage across the way? Even paying full Airport Taxi fare, it's still reasonable in relation to taxis here at home and it's usually only one trip. I doubt anyone is as selective when using a cab any time else. When my plane lands, I just want to get whe...

Malecon Bridge
What is the status of the new bridge between the Malecon and Playa Los Muertos? I have heard that it is progressing quickly. Does anyone have an idea of when it will be finished?
We are going down to PV in March and just wondering if it'll be in use by then.

Re:Snow to Sunshine
Well, you are behind me on the white stuff by only a few days but ahead of me to PV by 35 days. I, like you, am counting the days. I'm making a list of the Restuarants and Bars that we haven't tried yet, there are so many to check out and so little time to do it. Two weeks goes by so fast when you a...

Re:Electricity Plug Questions...
The plugs and outlets are the same as in Canada and the US. Everything should work just fine.

Snow to Sunshine
Well, I was just out shovelling snow from my driveway, for the 3rd or 4th time this week. The only thing that makes things better are the warm thoughts of March. I will be hanging my snow shovel on the wall and walking the sandy beach of Los Muertos, stopping at the Oasis for a bucket or two, walkin...

They'll accept a driver's licence with your picture on it if you don't have a passport. Same as anywhere.

Re:American Dollars or Pesos?
Actually, the banks are better. If you use traveller's cheques, you get the market rate of the day with no extra charges. Each time you use the ATM it costs an international ATM useage fee. But, regardless, either way is still better than relying on vendors to give you a fair exchange.

Re:American Dollars or Pesos?
The currency in Mexico is the Peso. It only makes sense to spend Pesos. Some may accept US and Canadian Dollars but they have to convert them into Pesos anyway. It is generally a good idea to bring some Pesos with you to get started (ie taxi fare, tips etc.) then either use the ATM's to get Pesos or...

Re:TS hucksters and venders almost ruined my vacat
I have to agree with bill12 on the fact that I have not had a bad experience with T/S or beach vendors. But, I have read several posts that have mentioned problems with regards to aggressive behavior. All I'm trying to say is that although it may not bother the regulars, prospective visitors are bei...

Re:TS hucksters and venders almost ruined my vacat
Regardless of what it is like elsewhere, it seems to be a big problem in PV. I have never had an experience with T/S sharks or vendors that nearly ruined my vacation but... apparently enough visitors have and perhaps it's something that should be looked into for softening the aggressiveness of these...
