Re:tours
Hi, The "Rhythms of the Night" and "Canopy Tour" are not operated by Playa Los Arcos Hotel, but instead by an experienced tour company in Puerto Vallarta. You can find out more about these tours and make reservations here on the bulletin board:
http://www.puertovallarta.net/tours/
Note:...

Re:Orphanage
Hi Jeremy, This reply is too late for your trip (I hope you had fun!), but Casa Hogar is about two miles north of the airport, along the main road through PV. It is located just before you reach the big Modelo/Corona Beer building (on the same side of the road). Follow the frontage road exit signs f...

Re:Recommendations for car to own in Mexico
I agree, they seem to be building PEMEX stations everywhere. I heard one report that Mexico predicts a big increase of the number of cars (maybe 5,000,000???) on its roads during the next 5 years. It is also interesting to ponder whether they are positioning themselves against a possible invasion of...

Oops!, I just noticed that the map is not currently in stock at Amazon.com. I even forgot that I wrote a review about it almost a year ago on the Amazon site.

Re:maps
There is a Guia Roji map of Puerto Vallarta. You can buy it on Amazon.com. Here is a link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/9687140585/qid=1113443799/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/002-8281804-3633636?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 If the link doesn't work right, just go to Amazon.com and se...

Re:Recommendations for car to own in Mexico
Thanks for the info., Andy! I'll have to get a quote from Mapfre Tepeyac the next time we go to Vallarta. We use them for our PV house insurance. After Hurricane Kenna passed by PV, in Oct. 2002, Comercial America tried to double our yearly premiums. To keep the payments lower, we had to either agre...

Re:Recommendations for car to own in Mexico
Last time I was in Mexico, I only bought car insurance for a month at a time, so figure that the rates would drop a bit if you purchased a longer term policy. Note that all amounts are in U.S. Dollars! Insurance Company: Seguros Comercial America S.A. de C.V. (owned by the large Dutch company, Ing -...

Re:Recommendations for car to own in Mexico
You would keep your U.S. tags, but you can let them expire while you are living in Mexico and are updating your FM-3 & Mexican car permit every year like you are supposed to be doing. Make sure to check with the Department of Motor Vehicles in the state where your car is registered to be sure that t...

Si tu quieres bucear, Cancun es mejor. A mi, me gusta Puerto Vallarta porque es una ciudad con una combinacion de partes modernas y partes mas tradicionales.

Re:Recommendations for car to own in Mexico
Another consideration is to get a car that has a good, sturdy suspension system. Those cobblestone and dirt roads around PV will really tear-up a cheap, light duty suspension that you might find on an economy car.

If you want a one-day pass, just enter the Puerto Vallarta Sam's club using the exit door (marked "SALIDA"). You can walk around to the customer service counter and ask for one.

Re:Aero Mexico
I have used AeroMexico several times and have been impressed with the service. They codeshare with Delta Airlines here in Atlanta, so their flights to Mexico could be on a Delta plane or on a AeroMexico plane. If I am flying to Mexico, I check the prices for both Delta and AeroMexico. The surprising...

It is still getting great reviews from the folks who are visiting here. To be honest: I have never eaten at El Brujo, although I have to drive past that big tree at least a couple of times per day! The restaurant is definitely on my "to do" list.

Re:freaked out - please help!
Over the years, I have spent almost 90 weeks in PV. I have never been physically "grabbed" by a timeshare guy - maybe I'm just not their type :-). The only real danger for new travelers to Puerto Vallarta, and many other high profile travel destinations, is when they don't realize that you can't get...

Re:Bull Fights Locally??
The bullring is called "La Paloma" and it is located near the Marine Terminal area. It is one traffic light North of the Sam's Club/WalMart complex along the main road through Puerto Vallarta. When in season, the fights start at 5:00 PM on Wednesdays. I have never been, but have heard that contrary ...
