Re:Daytime... until 10pm - what will we do??
EarlyRetire is right, the bars don't really get crowded until 11PM or later. If your cruise ship will be departing at 10PM, you will have to head back to the Marine Terminal well before then (or you might be left behind in PV ...although I could think of fates much worse :-) ) I think the neat thing...

It's Sept. 16th: Mexican Independence Day!
Happy Independence Day to webmaster Mogens and all Mexicans! I sure wish I was down there to see the celebrations.

Re:Beware of the PVR addiction!
A while back, I decided to finally take action and break my PV addiction. So, I just stopped going, "cold turkey". For the past nine months I have fought hard every day to resist the urge to phone my travel agent. If it wasn't for all of you wonderful guys on the board, who form my PV addiction supp...

Here is a way to make donations to the PV children's refuge that are tax deductible in the U.S.:

Re:Bus travel for long distance
Here is a website that is more intended for travel from PV to areas south, like Barra de Navidad and Manzanillo. There is some useful busing info collected here no matter which direction you decide to travel. There is also a layout map of the PV bus station there. http://www.costalegre.ca/Busing_PV....

Forgot to say: the restaurant is on the second floor, with a first floor stairway entrance (shown at the bottom right corner of the photograph).

Here is an old photo from early February 2003. I think it was taken a week or so before their grand opening (before they had installed their customer tables and official restaurant signs).

Re:Charging camera battery
At my house in PV, the line voltage hovers around 130 VAC. It doesn't seem to affect any electronic items, but I sure could use a free membership to the "Light Bulb of the Month" club.

Re:pharmacy / medication
I am pretty sure that antibotics don't need a prescription in Mexico, also. You will have to walk back to the pharmacist's area because they probably won't be found on the regular aisles. Strangely enough, there are over-the-counter sleep aid medications in the U.S. that are sold prescription-only i...

Re:pharmacy / medication
I'm not an authority on the subject, but I don't think you can generally bring back prescription medicines that you purchased in Mexico. Although there are some exceptions to the FDA rule, I doubt something so commonly available in the U.S., like Amoxicillin, would qualify as an exception. Here is a...

Hi jkbe, After watching the news from California, I can understand your frustrations with the illegal immigration problem. The whole complex problem of illegal Mexican immigration to the U.S. is interesting because it's not a completely black and white issue (other than the fact that U.S. law is cle...

Re:Leave your attitude at home
Hi Chiripiorco, Just pulling myself out of the ashes of your "rant explosion" :-). I agree, in principal, with the things you say. But, I'm a little less extreme. I am an American who has probably spent about 60 or 70 weeks in PV over the past three to four years. I have certainly seen my share of "...

MissingVallarta, Here's a compilation of a few old posts of mine. Maybe it could help you find the correct phone number. TELMEX Yellow Pages =================== You can use the online Seccion Amarilla, at Telmex, for info on businesses. Sometimes, the info is a little out-of-date, or in error, but u...

Re:Military Checkpoints
Hi Dan, They have these checkpoints all over Mexico. I have been told that they are trying to stop the flow of drugs and guns. I have never been stopped at the checkpoint to the north of PV. I wouldn't be surprized that one reason they moved this checkpoint farther to the north was due to pressure f...

Re:10 weeks or 70 days till PV
Hi EarlyRetire, The wintertime weather is wonderful in PV. Just don't make enemies with your friends back in Canada: you will need someone to visit during the sweltering heat of PV summers :-) If you don't speak much Spanish, I would recommend that you take lessons: either at home or in PV. There ar...

Re:Female traveling solo - safety concerns
One has to wonder if the "theft" of loose change mentioned above was really a case of a maid mistaking the change as her tip. Maybe, after the theft was reported, the maid was scared to admit her mistake for one reason or another. Unlike in the U.S., tipping the maid is very common in Mexico. Some p...

Re:Just Curious - what are your thoughts on Tipping?
Wow, your dad is a generous tipper ...ask him if he needs someone to carry his golf clubs while in PV :-) I first invited my parents down to PV a few years ago. They really liked it and have been back two times since then. I'm now trying to motivate them to go down again this winter. I hope you and ...
