I just booked the Marival for mid Jan. Got a pretty good deal through Funjet from STL. We booked the least expensive room because we don't spend much time there. Also I heard from a poster on Tripadvisor that the cheaper rooms are very big.

This question in now moot. As of yesterday, I have booked the Marival for Jan 16-23. I still would appreciate any input or info on the resort.

Been 4 times in the last 1.5 years on the East coast Riviera Maya. This coming Jan will be back in PV area, not GCP but Marival in Nuevo. Got such a good deal I couldn't pass it up $2500 for two, 7 nights with taxes and insurance. I'm looking forward to checking out Bucieras and Punta de Mita as pos...

Is there anyone left there from the good old days, ie '99 - '05? I guess maybe Poly is about the only one.

Gee that other site didn't remain nameless for long, Tom. I love both sides or Mexico and use that to my advantage. From STL the charter flights change every couple of months to late arrival and then to early arrival alternating between the Riviera Maya and PV. The last year and a half we have been ...

Decision 08 Marival Grand or Riu Vallarta

Yes guys I'm back..just finished a really nice stay at the El Dorado Seaside Suites in Puerto Adventuras and within 9 days of returning I have put on hold 7 nights at either the Marival Grand or Riu Vallarta. The deal is, I need to get some input from those out there who have recently been to both o...

You know what, there are SOBs all over the place that try to make you feel bad. I'm interested too as to what staff members are still there. I also remember the tickets for the resturants at the CPR. That really didn't bother me since I ate every dinner at the Paradise resturant. I had to see my man...

Whooo I'm back...I am now a big poster on TA only because I've been going to the Riviera Maya so much. Do yourself a favor and try the GCP. We have been there 12 times but it has been over 1.25 years since our last stay. Every time was fantastic and I really can tell you I never had a complaint. You...

We spent the last 8 years at the GCP in late June/July. I can remember having an occasional shower in the late afternoon and one or two nights with a thunderstorm. Lots of heat and humidity during the day but tolerable with the breezes comming off of the bay. Enjoy the adult beverages, but remember ...

Our last trip to the GCP #12 was good but things have changed so much that may have been the last time. We have been hanging out on the Mayan Suncoast lately. Playa del Carmen is getting to be too big but still doable. We really like the large AIs set in the jungle with nice beaches south of that ar...

Ran into this site a long time ago. Interesting but of very little use, unless you want to get your arse kicked.

I have been replying to a bunch of posts on Tripadvisor (Playa del Carmen forum) on this subject and have been raked over the coals about my opinions. These things are awful but it happens everywhere. Some posters feel a need to stir this matter. I have no fear when visiting Mexico, either coasts.

I myself can't wait to see the pic. I really like all Mexicans but my favorites are the mayan. We now split our vacations between PV (summer) and the Riviera Maya (Winter). Their cuisine can't be beat either, very strange offerings on the menus in Playa del Carmen.

3 years ago, we were a group of 13 and really didn't have a problem. We were there the end of June and as Tom said, switching out works well. Some of us waded out into the bay and my son was designated cerveza runner. Every 15 min, he would wade back to the Breeze bar and bring back out 4 beers for ...
