Mrs. Bear and I have rented condos twice in PV, and once a casa in Bucerias. We prefer to prepare most of our meals ourselves. We have rented through Homeaway and VRBO I believe. We do love Old Town in PV, but be aware that your vertical distance from the beach may be more than the horizontal distan...

I enjoy most all of the Mexican beers which have been recommended in this thread with the exception of Sol. Those clear bottles are not good, I have had a few badly skunked bottles of Sol and will not risk it again. I love the 9% Pacificos, it has, IMO, a much deeper flavor profile than the regular ...

Go to Bucerias and eat at the El Brujo location there, or at Mar y Sol towards the square from El Brujo. Both have great food, the ceviche at El Brujo is awesome and the cocktiel de camarones at Mar y Sol is not to be missed. Both are right on the bay.

Also in Bucerias on the plaza, at least as of October, there is a lady selling crepes with fillings such as Nutella. NOT recommended for those with diabetes, otherwise totaly wonderful.

We took the bus from Bucerias to Sayulita in October. There is indeed only the one stop near the bridge. Sayulita is a pretty cool little town. It seems to lean toward the yuppie side, but we enjoyed our visit. We had lunch at El Capitan's (I know rhe word Capitan was in the name anyway), the food w...

Puerto Vallarta and environs is a wonderful place, but it's not Disneyland. Even in Disneyland I stay aware of my surroundings and those around me. I am not fearful, just aware that no matter where you are there will be that sub-species of humanity which will take advantage of those who are un-aware.

A bit of a twist on the "clear coffee". I think it was last weekend I carefully prepared the coffeemaker and pushed the start button. When I went back to pour a cup the carafe was empty, I had forgotten to put water in the machine.

We've been to PV twice, both times in '07. We are planning another trip in October and this time we are going to stay in Bucerias. We want to try somewhere a bit mellower than PV, yet be able to come and eat at some of our favorite spots without much trouble. We are also looking forward to checking ...
