Have been to the Decameron 4 times. Love the place. Huge resort, lots of restaurants, bars, pools etc. Beautiful beach. Only drawback is how far from PV it is. Hope you have a great time... still trying to decide if I'll be back to the Decameron in January, or if we'll stay in one of the older hotel...

Figure 40 min on the bus ($1.00 and worth it for the ride!!) and about $20 for the taxi - about 20 minutes.

If you're going to ride two up, do NOT take the ATV tour - the machines are designed for 1 person, you will be sitting on a piece of foam on the rear rack. That said, the buggies are great for two people, much better ride! Enjoy your trip... and if you're set on taking the ATV's, take one yourself -...

Re:Going to Royal Decameron 6/30-How's the weather??

I was at the Decameron last year at this time, and while it was amazingly hot and humid, for the most part the rain held off - we didn't have one day spoiled by the rain, and the last 4 days (out of a couple weeks) the rain started. It was AWSOME. I clouded over around 4pm, the wind picked up then i...

Re:Royal Decameron!!! Absolutly awesome!!

Have a good rip gang, I've been there 4 times now, and other than being a bit of a bus ride from downtown, there is NOTHING to complain about.

Wish I was going too!

Re:scuba diving

Diving is quite good, as long as you're away from the beach. Vallara Adventures have a few tours, but I would recommend Chico's Dive Shop. They seem to be very knowledgable and reasonably priced.

Re:Tipping at All inclusive?

I've been to AI resorts a few times, and I usually tip the housekeeping staff 20pesos / day. We get the best service, all the towels and anything else we need. I also tip the bar staff 10 - 20 pesos a day, believe me, the service gets really good when they remember you! No waiting in lines, your dri...

Smitty (Jan 20, 2005 04:47 p.m.): Strangely enough the pub in front of my place in Toronto has Dos Equis Amber on tap. After some serious testing I can honestly reccomend consumption of this fine beer. :) Where in Toronto???????????? I'm coming back soon, and will need a place to get a decent pint....

Re:Half day ship activities Ex: Pirates of the Bay

Hard to say what you want... did the Pirate ship in the day one year, did the night cruise the next... enjoyed the day cruise more, went snorkling at Marietias, and enjoyed the party on the way back.. had a pretty good time... sorta touristy, but lotsa fun.

Re:How late is too late to go to PV?

I was there in the middle of summer, and it was wonderful. Warm, humid, but it was perfect. Give yourself a day to acclimatize and you will be very happy. Cheap and quiet... not too many tourists... many deals to be had. Great time to go.

Re:WE WON!! WE WON!!

Weather is beautiful either week that you are offered. The only thing I can think of is that it may be a bit less busy later in April... depending on Spring Break... less tourists = cheaper prices for some things. That's all I can think of. Perfect time to see paradise.

Depends on what you're looking for, but the Royal Decameron has great kids programs, lots of entertainment, the only problem is that is a bit of a ride to downtown. The price is great tho...

Re:Just back from the Royal Decameron

Didn't get any names, pretty much the same people that have been there the last 3 years. A good time was had by all, but I will be going back to PV to a hotel in town... the Decameron is beautiful, with lots of amenities, but it's not really Mexico. I'm staying downtown next time. I'm gonna enjoy re...

Re:Difficulty cashing canadian at bank?

Just got back on Sunday, used the ATM a couple times... 1500 pesos = aprox $160 CAN, RBC charged me $5 service charge, but I think I still came out better than going to the currency exchange. Hope that helps. P.S. One thing that I still see is people tipping with Canadian or US change... DON'T do th...

Just back from the Royal Decameron

Well, arrived home to 4" of snow here very early Sunday morning... bit of a shock after a week in paradise. The Decameron was great again (3rd time there), staff and entertainment crew were a delight as always. The food has gone downhill a bit since the last couple of trips, but we ate downtown a co...
