Cruises Will Depart From Puerto Vallarta

The project is an initiative of Princess Cruises and it’s expected to start operating in 2019.

Cruise tourism will see a major push in Mexico starting in 2019 when cruises will begin departing from Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco and sailing through the Pacific Ocean. The project is being nursed by Princess Cruises, headed in Latin America by Ruth Leal, in an initiative with very positive reception by the Tourism Secretary, Enrique de la Madrid Cordero, and the Communications Secretary, Gerardo Ruiz Esparza.

Princess Cruises will take advantage of Puerto Vallarta’s effort in modernizing the city. In the past few years the city has focused in attracting investors to renovate existing properties into high end boutique hotels and small resorts, as well as developing new hotels focused in specific types of tourists, such as business travelers.

The project will also benefit from the new highway between Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta, which cuts travel time between the two locations down to two and a half hours.
