Puerto Vallarta retains national leadership in hotel occupancy

According to the Datatur website, Puerto Vallarta once again had the highest hotel occupancy rate in the country for the week of February 20–26, 2023, at 86.5%, which is 7% higher than the same time period in 2022, when it was 79.5%.

Among the 12 locations the federal ministry of tourism monitors via the Datatur platform, this city has the highest hotel occupancy rates. With a hotel occupancy rate of 83.3%, Cancun came in second on the list, up from 78.3% in 2022. Los Cabos took third with a rate of 79.9%, up from 78.5% the previous year.

At 56.4%, Queretaro came in fourth position, followed by Villahermosa (55.1%), Acapulco (54.7%), Mexico City (49.2%), San Miguel de Allende (46.1%), Aguascalientes (45%), Puebla (42.2%), Tuxtla Gutierrez (41%), and San Cristobal de Las Casas (29.6%).

It is noteworthy that the Directorate of Tourism and Economic Development reported last week that Puerto Vallarta has had weekend occupancy rates of up to 85%, with some hotels being completely booked.

Apart from a millionaire economic spill and important occupations, the city has also seen some international filming for platforms like Netflix, with a production team of more than 350 people participating in the shootings. However, there are also local, national, and international events that draw the attendance of dozens of people who stay for at least three days and four nights.

Similar to that, the Vallarta Tennis Open 2023 will be held from March 6 to March 12 and will include 90 players from five continents. During that week, it is anticipated that 7,000 fans will attend.
