Weather last week of July first week of August

It's been 17 years since I've been to Mexico and I'm looking to take family. My concern is weather in this time frame. What can I expect during this time frame in Puerto Vallarta?

Hot, humid and rainy. Unless there is a tropical storm or depression off the coast it will typically rain each afternoon sometimes for an hour sometimes all night. Without the presence of a storm in the area, the sun comes out every morning and you rinse and repeat each day. It is still a great time to visit, once you get used to the weather. It's not as crowded as high season but there will be a lot of Mexican Nationals on vacation at that time. The lightening storms over the bay at night are amazing to watch. Take cool cotton clothes, flip flops or sandals that the rain won't ruin and lots of bathing suits. Things don't dry quickly in the humidity and putting on a cold, wet bathing suit is YUK!
