Port of Call?

Can anyone tell me in what area (District) the cruise ships dock when in PV?
Location of cruise ship terminal
The cruise ship terminal is at the north end of the hotel zone. It is adjacent to the Crown Paradise Hotel, formerly known as the Playa de Oro. The Krystal Hotel is very near by.
The Marina Vallarta area is at the north end of the harbor area and the cruise terminal is at the south end. So hotels such as the Westin, and Marriott are north of the cruise ship terminal. It is a short taxi ride to that area.

Just FYI - The Playa de Oro is now known as Crown Paradise Club Resorts, and the Crown Paradise is now known as the Golden Crown Paradise... These two properties are now own by Senor Salvador Onelas Jr... Onelas Sr is going to keep all the properties in Cancun....
And the cruise ships are right there when they come into dock, or they drop anchor just outside the harbor in front of our resort...
from the harbor area, the Krystal is like two blocks away... and a lot of the other excursions leave from this same port....

Thanks all!
Thanks for the replies. New to this site, but have learned a TON already. Wife and I are planning our first visit in February, so I'm studying up on the lay of the land.
what is your goals for a resort Buckeye? winter is upon us in Iowa, so there are a lot of people thinking of warmth of Mexico... and with the devistation in Cancun, there are a lot of people that are looking to switch to Vallarta this year.... so if you haven't made reservations, you may want to get to your travel agent with a few ideas and start locking in some time some place...
but that is just my opinion....

We are planning to stay at Villa Del Par-Mar?? Does that sound right? It's located in downtown PV. We have a family friend that owns a condo and she's letting us use it for a week while there.tojol57 wrote:what is your goals for a resort Buckeye? winter is upon us in Iowa, so there are a lot of people thinking of warmth of Mexico... and with the devistation in Cancun, there are a lot of people that are looking to switch to Vallarta this year.... so if you haven't made reservations, you may want to get to your travel agent with a few ideas and start locking in some time some place...

We've done the Caribbean cruises, etc. Wasn't for us. tired of the East Coast & Florida, lived in Los Angeles in the past, so we're headed south of the border. We both share a great interest in the culture & are starting research for a possible move in a few years, so we're just checking out some cities for Economy, Geography, business oppertunites, schools, etc.
thanks chico
thanks for the pic chico98.... we were there on that day in october for the 4 ships. a little crowded in town though so we did a little booze cruise ....it helped of course
buckeye they do it all... they run all season long... they used to come in on like mondays, wednesdays, thursdays and fridays depending on where they started and the routes they took... now they are there usually m - frd.... there can be as many as two to three ships in at once now... and they go every which direction the wind is blowing that day... depends on the salesmanship on the vessel....
that is why we love it where we are at with the GCP... open the door in the morning if there is a ship, stay put, if there isn't look out town here we come... LOL and if there is one out the front door, and one out in the bay... STAY IN DOORS - Katy bar the door... LOL

Cruise Ships
Below is a link to the 2005 Puerto Vallarta cruise ship schedule, shows when there are ships in port and how many. It's a pdf file so you need Adobe to read it:

And the hotel is the Villa del Palmar. It's in the hotel zone.

Sounds like a good area to cater to tourist business if one was considering starting a business in PV??......tojol57 wrote:buckeye they do it all... they run all season long... they used to come in on like mondays, wednesdays, thursdays and fridays depending on where they started and the routes they took... now they are there usually m - frd.... there can be as many as two to three ships in at once now... and they go every which direction the wind is blowing that day... depends on the salesmanship on the vessel....

we also found that there was a weekly paper/magazine that came out and was found everywhere around town...can't remember the name but it had vallarta in the name. anyway on the back page it had the upcoming weeks listing of when cruise ships were in port. we found it to be pretty accurate. it was written in english and in spanish (vallarta mirror possibly?) worth reading for basic info too...good bathroom material
Good deal, thanks rcracing. Looks like we'll be down 2/13/06. I'll look for it when I get there.rcracing wrote:we also found that there was a weekly paper/magazine that came out and was found everywhere around town...can't remember the name but it had vallarta in the name. anyway on the back page it had the upcoming weeks listing of when cruise ships were in port. we found it to be pretty accurate. it was written in english and in spanish (vallarta mirror possibly?) worth reading for basic info too...good bathroom material
Ships
That link I posted above will also show you the 2006 schedule:

It looks like the schedule for cruise ships in port during February is quite light compared to some months. That could change, but you do have stretches of days where there are no ships in port, or only one in port.
