I know the timing/day of the story seems suspect, but someone posted a couple of months ago about this happening on this board...so yeah, chuck is right, this is true.
It does sound as though people are getting refunds though, and I'm sure the lawsuit will deal with anything else.
Yet another reason folks to always book your trips on a credit card - you're almost always guaranteed to get your money back that way!

AND
Aero California cancelled all flights out of LAX to Mexico yesterday.
Passengers on the news last night said the airline employees said they went bankrupt, BUT a news story out of Mexico City supposedly said the Mexican equivalent to the US FAA grounded all flights over safety and security issues which they were told to correct a year ago and had not taken any steps to correct?
Passengers also said about the first 3 people in line got refunds for their flights and the rest were told they were not issuing any more refunds.

Great balls of fire. Well we remember when Lorrie's cousin was stranded in Jamaica when their travel company went belly up. but they did get home when they were supposed to by another carrier. but that would have sucked not being able to go. getting there is one thing, but not even a refund or some kind of compensation. that would suck big time...
I was almost taken by them, thankfully our travel agent, suggested we go with Mexico Unlimited instead, which we did...dodged a bullet there. Here is my topic about it;
