sea turtles

When we stayed at the Presidente in October '04, we participated in a release of sea turtle hatchlings on the property, which was quite an experience. This year, we are again visiting in October, but are staying in some condos in Punta Negra. Does anyone know where releases are held that are accessible to the general public?

I'd love to know as well. We'll be in PV Nov 1 thru 8 - are the turtles released during that time??

I believe the season runs summer thru early fall. Seems that when we were there mid October last time, we were at the tail end of things.

About half of our visits have turtle hatchings on the beach infront of the GCP when we are there in late June, early July. Hope you get to see one. Several times the releases occured during a nice rain shower in the late afternoon.

Thanks to all for the input. Looks like our best bet is to inquire at some of the larger beachfront resorts. Many may not want the general (unpaying)public roaming their grounds, but its also good exposure for them, getting potential guests onto their properties to look around who otherwise wouldn't have done so.
