We just never seem to make it at the right time to see this.

You were there at the right time. You should have asked, Alberto would have taken you guys out to see them on our boat. "We are licensed for whale watching".

We are on the 8th floor and usually see many whales on other years. This year we did see a couple the first week of feb. There will always be next year.
